President Macron's 'gamble' could plunge France into chaos
French politicians are still trying to figure out what really prompted President Macron to take the bold step of calling early elections.

According to RT on June 30, Bloomberg wrote that France is trying to figure out what really motivated President Emmanuel Macron to take the bold step of holding early parliamentary elections. In addition, this decision was made at the most inopportune time for the country.
“President Emmanuel Macron’s election nightmare is plunging France into chaos,” Bloomberg wrote.
Bloomberg said that when he announced the dissolution of the French National Assembly, President Macron made a “feverish” statement, drowning out public and parliamentary debates in the country. His critics said that he was the one who caused that “fever”.
According to Bloomberg, President Macron called the early election at what seemed like the worst possible time, with New Caledonia in turmoil over his electoral reforms and just days before the Paris Olympics. In addition, the vote will take place during the July holiday season, when half of the French population will be traveling, which could lead to many abstaining by absentee ballot.
Moreover, the outcome of the early elections could jeopardize future aid flows to Ukraine.
Sky News correspondent Adam Parsons commented that President Macron’s “big gamble” with early parliamentary elections looks set to fail. According to this author, opinion polls show that in the upcoming vote, Marine Le Pen’s National Rally party will come out on top, with the left-wing coalition likely to come in second place and President Macron’s center-right party in third place.
Previously, in the European Parliament elections in early June 2024, the results showed that President Macron's party suffered a defeat against the right-wing coalition. Along with that, Mr. Macron was "humiliated by the scale of his defeat" and immediately announced the dissolution of the National Assembly and called for early elections.
