Warning: 3/4 of honey is contaminated with pesticides.

A recent study has warned that three-quarters of the honey produced worldwide contains pesticides that harm bees and pose a serious risk to human health.

Of the 198 honey samples tested, 75% contained at least one of the neoplastic chemicals Neonicotinoids, which can attack the human nervous system if consumed in large quantities.

Neonicotinoids are neuroactive chemicals similar to nicotine, capable of repelling pests, aphids, and insects in plants. They can also be applied as foliar sprays or seed treatments, thus penetrating all parts of the plant, but they can be toxic to bees.

This substance is highly controversial among environmentalists. However, a leading British scientist argues that it is impossible to determine the potential long-term harm from consuming honey contaminated with this substance in small amounts.

According to Dave Goulson, a biology professor at the University of Sussex, people who regularly consume honey are more likely to ingest a mixture of neurotoxins. However, if consumed in small amounts, these toxins are not lethal and are unlikely to cause significant harm. The only thing unknown is the long-term, chronic effects of prolonged exposure to these substances.

Although the levels of this substance in most samples were below European safety standards, some samples still had pesticide levels exceeding the standard.
