(Baonghean.vn) - The Customer Care Center of the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) has received complaints from several customers regarding individuals posing as employees of the Northern Power Corporation who are calling customers with the aim of damaging the reputation of the power industry or engaging in fraudulent activities.

Recently, the Northern Power Corporation Customer Care Center (EVNNPC) has received many complaints about customers receiving calls from people claiming to be power company employees providing information about incorrect electricity bill calculations due to changes in the meter reading schedule towards the end of the month. They are contacting the customer to refund a percentage of the bill or pay for excess electricity.

The Northern Power Corporation stated that upon receiving notifications about power outages, customers should call the customer service hotline to verify the information.

Specifically, customers received calls from the phone number 02207779998, with the caller identifying themselves as electricity company employees requesting customers to send their electricity bills to confirm payment information. The reason given was that the electricity company had miscalculated the electricity bill for the period when the meter reading schedule changed to the last days of the month.

In some cases, customers have received calls from the phone number 02227779923 requesting them to provide electricity bills for January, February, and March in order to receive a refund of 10% - 15% of their total electricity consumption for 2023 and 2024. The reason given for the refund is that the Electricity Company is currently running a program to support customers with their electricity bills.

After receiving the call, the scammers sent friend requests via Zalo and asked the customers to send their electricity bill information for verification. They then instructed the customers to update their records through the Electricity Company (EVN) information to receive their money back via a strange link or website, or guided them to install an application (app) on their phone to update their records.

In response to the reports, EVNNPC affirms that the individuals making the contact are impersonating electricity company employees and providing completely false information. All EVNNPC notifications are sent to customers through the following channels:

* SMS messages: These are identification messages from the Electricity Companies.

* Zalo message: The sender is the Zalo Official Account (OA) page of the Northern Power Corporation.

* Customer Service Center Email:[email protected]

* Fanpage of the Customer Service Center: Northern Power Corporation

To prevent impersonation and fraudulent activities that damage the reputation of the electricity industry, EVNNPC respectfully requests that customers remain vigilant, refrain from providing personal information, and avoid accessing suspicious links when receiving messages impersonating the electricity industry from Zalo, Telegram, Messenger, Viber, etc.
