This is the conclusion of a study recently published by the American Academy of Pediatrics. The study was conducted on 900 children, aged 6 months to 2 years. One-fifth of them spent an average of 28 minutes per day using smartphones, tablets, and video games.
Scientists have found that for every 30 minutes children spend playing with electronic devices each day, their risk of developing speech delays increases by 49%.
Experts assert that this is the first study to show a link between screen time and the risk of speech delays in children.
At the same time, experts recommend further research to find methods that can help parents and doctors effectively address this issue.
