According to the newspaper, police believe they were preparing a terrorist attack on a shopping centre in Oberhausen. Police are now investigating whether anyone else was involved in the plot.

All Christmas markets and shops were closed at the CentrO shopping centre on December 22 as police carried out a special operation there, according to Der Spiegel.

On December 19, a truck plowed into a crowd at a Berlin Christmas market on Breitscheidplatz square, killing 12 people and injuring more than 40 others.

The German Interior Ministry considers this a terrorist attack.

A nationwide manhunt for suspect Anis Amri, a 24-year-old refugee from Tunisia, is ongoing.

Amri’s residence permit was found inside the Polish truck that was hijacked (in the truck attack). Police also found his fingerprints on the truck door./.
