Successful emergency treatment for patient poisoned by Gelsemium elegans.
On April 1st, the Intensive Care Unit of Ky Son Medical Center successfully treated a patient who had been poisoned by the leaves of the Strychnos nux-vomica plant and was in critical condition.
The patient suffering from poisoning is Moong Thi C. (27 years old), residing in Nam Can commune, Nghe An province, who was admitted to the hospital two hours after the poisoning occurred.
Upon admission, the patient was agitated, difficult to awaken, had mild cyanosis of the skin and mucous membranes, was gasping for breath, had slightly dilated pupils on both sides, a rapid pulse of 120 beats/minute, and low blood pressure of 80/50 mmHg.

Thanks to the promptness, precision in professional work, and high sense of responsibility, the patient's condition improved significantly after the emergency treatment. Currently, the patient is conscious, able to communicate, vital signs are gradually stabilizing, and the patient continues to be monitored and treated at the unit.
Doctors at Ky Son Medical Center advise people to raise awareness and absolutely not use the leaves of the Gelsemium elegans plant in any form. Furthermore, if any cases of poisoning are detected, people should be taken to the nearest medical facility as soon as possible for timely emergency treatment to avoid unfortunate consequences.
