Vinh Long strives to control African swine fever.

From the beginning of 2026 to the present, Vinh Long province has recorded a total of 11 outbreaks of African swine fever in 9 communes and wards. The total number of pigs that had to be culled reached 321, weighing more than 11.5 tons.

Currently, the province still has four outbreaks in the communes of Long Hiep, My Long, Long Ho, and Ngu Lac that have not yet completed the 21-day quarantine period. Authorities are working closely with local governments to monitor, disinfect, and strictly control the transportation and slaughter of pigs in the affected areas. The main goal is to quickly contain the disease, prevent the virus from spreading widely, and protect the livestock of local farmers.

Veterinary forces regularly inspect livestock farming to promptly address any emerging situations and ensure the safety of unaffected areas.
