World gold price increased sharply this afternoon

As of 6:00 p.m. this afternoon, Vietnam time, the world gold price reached 3,684.59 USD/ounce, up 0.89% or 32.38 USD/ounce compared to yesterday.

Based on today's USD/VND exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,445 VND/USD), today's world gold price is equivalent to 117.5 million VND/tael. Currently, the domestic gold price is about 15.5 million VND/tael higher than the world gold price.

As of 6:00 p.m. this afternoon, September 20, 2025, the domestic gold bar price increased sharply compared to yesterday. Specifically:

The price of SJC gold bars was listed by DOJI Group at 131 - 133 million VND/tael (buy - sell). At the same time, the price of gold bars was listed by Saigon Jewelry Company Limited - SJC and PNJ gold bars at 131 - 133 million VND/tael (buy - sell).

At Mi Hong Jewelry Company, the price of Mi Hong gold at the time of survey was listed at 132-133 million VND/tael for buying and selling. The price of gold bars at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited was traded by the enterprise at 131-133 million VND/tael (buying and selling).

The price of SJC gold bars at Phu Quy is traded by businesses at 130.5 - 133 million VND/tael (buy - sell).

Silver price this afternoon, September 20: Increased, maintaining the upward trend

At Phu Quy system, silver price on the morning of September 20 increased by 51 thousand VND/tael for buying and 58 thousand VND/tael for selling, reaching 1,653,000 - 1,704,000 VND/tael. This is the second consecutive increase, showing that domestic demand is showing an improving trend.

In Hanoi, silver prices were listed at trading points at around 1,359,000 - 1,393,000 VND/tael, an increase of 22,000 VND in both directions compared to the morning of September 19. In Ho Chi Minh City, the selling price also increased by about 30,000 VND/tael, contributing to the general price level rising.

In the world market, spot silver jumped sharply to 43,150 USD/ounce, 1,137 USD higher than the same time the previous day. This upward momentum has not shown any signs of stopping, showing that investors continue to believe in the prospect of increasing prices of precious metals.

USD exchange rate on the afternoon of September 20: Decreased for the second consecutive week

As of 6:00 p.m. on September 20, the central USD exchange rate stopped at 25,186 VND/USD, marking a significant decline compared to the "peak" period a few weeks ago.

During the week from September 15 to 19, the central USD exchange rate decreased by another 30 VND, following the decrease of 32 VND last week. In the free market, the USD exchange rate fluctuated strongly, decreasing by 510 VND during the week. At the end of the session on September 19, the buying and selling prices reached 26,440 - 26,540 VND/USD, respectively.

At banks, the fluctuations were smaller than in the free market. Vietcombank listed the buying rate at 26,175 VND/USD and the selling rate at 26,445 VND/USD, down 31 VND compared to the end of last week in the selling rate, while the buying rate increased by 9 VND.

BIDV also listed 26,202 - 26,445 VND/USD, in which the buying price decreased slightly by 6 VND.

In the international market, the DXY index - a measure of the strength of the USD against a basket of 6 major currencies - increased by 0.5% to 97.6 points. This is a recovery after hitting a bottom of 96.22 points, the lowest level since February 2022. This development occurred right after the US Federal Reserve (FED) decided to lower interest rates.

Pepper price today September 20, 2025: Continuously moving sideways

Pepper prices today in key growing areas remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Accordingly, the domestic pepper price level is from 147,000 VND/kg to 150,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands region, pepper price today in Dak Lak is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 150,000 VND/kg.

Pepper price today in Gia Lai is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 147,000 VND/kg.

Pepper price today in Lam Dong (old Dak Nong) is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 150,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, pepper price today in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau) is currently at 149,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday. Dong Nai is unchanged from yesterday at 149,000 VND/kg.

In addition, today's pepper price in Dong Nai (formerly Binh Phuoc) remained unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 147,000 VND/kg.

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) updated the prices of all types of pepper traded in the international market on September 20 (local time) as follows:

Indonesia’s Lampung black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at USD 7,027 per tonne. Meanwhile, Muntok white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at USD 9,957 per tonne.

Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,600/mt.

Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,700/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price also remained unchanged from yesterday at $12,900/ton.

Prices of all types of Vietnamese pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,600 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,800 USD/ton.

In addition, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at 9,250 USD/ton.

Coffee price today September 20, 2025: Sudden sharp drop

Domestic coffee prices today, September 20, 2025, in the Central Highlands region suddenly dropped sharply by 5,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, fluctuating between 110,800 - 111,500 VND/kg.

Accordingly, traders in the old Dak Nong region are purchasing coffee at the highest price of 111,500 VND/kg, a sharp decrease of 5,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Similarly, coffee price in Dak Lak province is 111,500 VND/kg, down 5,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Coffee prices in Gia Lai province dropped sharply by VND5,000/kg compared to yesterday and were traded at VND111,200/kg.

In Lam Dong province, coffee prices dropped sharply by VND5,000/kg compared to yesterday and are at VND110,800/kg.

On the London Stock Exchange, the online price of Robusta coffee futures contract for September 2025 delivery reached 4,353 USD/ton, down 6.69% (312 USD/ton) compared to yesterday. The futures contract for November 2025 delivery decreased 7.02% (312 USD/ton), down to 4,153 USD/ton.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for delivery in December 2025 decreased by 4.07% (15.55 US cents/pound) compared to yesterday, to 365.3 US cents/pound. The contract for delivery in March 2026 decreased by 4.15% (15 US cents/pound), to 346.25 US cents/pound.

On the Brazilian exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for delivery in September 2025 decreased by 4.74% (21.75 US cents/pound) compared to yesterday, to 436.6 US cents/pound. The contract for delivery in December 2025 decreased by 1.1% (4.85 US cents/pound) to 432.95 US cents/pound.

Oil price today September 20, 2025: Falling again due to abundant supply

Oil prices fell in the final trading session of the week. Brent crude closed at $66.68 a barrel, down 76 cents (1.1%). US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell 89 cents (1.4%) to $62.68 a barrel. Despite the daily decline, both crudes posted their second consecutive weekly gain.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced new retail prices of gasoline and oil, effective from 3:00 p.m. on September 18. Specifically as follows:

- E5 RON92 gasoline price increased by 230 VND, to a maximum of 19,986 VND/liter.

- RON95 gasoline price increased by 208 VND, reaching 20,608 VND/liter.

- E10 RON 95-III gasoline price increased sharply by 560 VND, reaching 20,600 VND/liter.

- Diesel oil increased by 62 VND to 18,705 VND/liter.

- Kerosene price increased by 176 VND to 18,544 VND/liter.

- Fuel oil price increased by 40 VND, to 15,130 VND/kg.

During this period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance did not set aside or use the Price Stabilization Fund.
