Couple produces fake Chivas for 100,000 VND
A couple in Thanh Xuan (Hanoi) poured Lao wine into old Chivas bottles, then put a label on them to release them to the market.
On October 14, the Hanoi Police Investigation Agency completed the investigation and transferred the case file to the People's Procuracy at the same level to propose prosecuting Tran Thi Thanh Hoa and her husband Quach Ngan Giang (both 37 years old, living in Thanh Xuan, Hanoi) for the crime of manufacturing counterfeit goods.

The prosecution agency said that at the end of 2014, Hoa was sentenced by the Hanoi People's Court to 19 months in prison for trading in counterfeit goods. While awaiting execution of the sentence, this woman and her husband counterfeited foreign wine at a rented apartment in Thanh Xuan.
Police determined that Hoa bought old Chivas bottles to clean, then poured Black (Laos) wine into the bottles and labeled them as imported wine.
When making the offer, the 37-year-old woman said that her relative was an official who often received foreign wine as gifts. Because she could not use it all, Hoa wanted to resell it at a price lower than the market price.
According to Hoa's confession, the cost to produce a fake bottle of Chivas is from 100,000 VND to 120,000 VND.
The investigation agency clarified that this woman had 4 stores selling fake Chivas in Hanoi, Vinh Phuc and Ha Nam. By the time they were discovered, Hoa and her husband had sold nearly 100 bottles of fake foreign wine to the market.
