Is Hoai Linh the most expensive comedian today?

The issue of Vietnamese artists' fees has always been a topic that attracts public attention. It has even caused much controversy because it is a sensitive issue and rarely shared by the artists themselves.

Many people have questioned Hoai Linh's fees and believe that he is currently the most expensive comedian.

In 2016, rumors surfaced that Hoai Linh's fee was as high as 3 billion VND per show. Speaking to Zing, he clarified: "That's just a rumor; I don't know what the reality is (laughs)... And since it's just a rumor, it's not necessarily true."

"It's possible, but it depends. It's not like you get 3 billion VND just for performing on stage. A stage production might not even cost 1.5 billion VND, and you're demanding 3 billion VND? Where would they get the money to pay that? That could be the fee for a film or game show if it's a long production of 20-30 episodes," the comedian emphasized.

In addition, comedian Hoài Linh also denied receiving a 3 billion VND fee for hosting the show "Ơn giời, cậu đây rồi" (Thank God, You're Here). According to some close sources, for each episode of television programs featuring Hoài Linh, the comedian receives approximately 100 million VND.

Specifically, in season 5 of the "Familiar Faces" program with 13 episodes, Hoai Linh's total earnings amounted to 1.3 billion VND. Furthermore, there are reports that securing Hoai Linh's appearance in a 10-minute Tet (Lunar New Year) skit can cost several hundred million VND. For performances in tea rooms, his fee is around 100 million VND. For more familiar venues, it fluctuates around 80 million VND.As for smaller shows, they cost around tens of millions of VND during Tet (Lunar New Year).

Hoài Linh is in high demand for shows year-round, so "during Tet (Lunar New Year), if you want to invite Hoài Linh, you have to book a show well in advance." Because of his busy Tet schedule, Hoài Linh once became so exhausted that he had to be hospitalized.

Working tirelessly performing shows, Hoai Linh built a 100 billion VND temple dedicated to the patron saint of his profession.

Hoài Linh began construction of the ancestral temple in September 2014. He said that for two years he diligently researched the culture and architecture, as well as made substantial financial preparations to complete this project.

Although the exact cost of the construction and the items inside the ancestral temple were not disclosed, many sources suggest that Hoai Linh's ancestral temple is worth 100 billion VND. To acquire this enormous sum, the comedian spared no effort, constantly performing at shows.

In a previous interview, Hoài Linh stated that he was satisfied with the project but still had to work tirelessly to earn money to pay off debts, because he only worked with what he could afford and didn't beg or ask for help from anyone. The comedian even had to be hospitalized several times due to overwork.
