Fishing in Nghe An - not just a passion

(Baonghean.vn) - Nowadays, fishing is no longer the "rice bowl" of farmers, or the elegant hobby of middle-aged and elderly people with free time, but has become a hobby of many cadres and people from rural to urban areas in Nghe An. Many people have bought modern tools and learned quick "secrets" to go fishing.

According to Mr. Cao Dinh Trung - Chairman of Thanh Vinh Fishing Club, not only is it a hobby, since 2010, many people with the same passion have established clubs with a large number of members. Currently, not to mention the number of clubs in the districts, mainly concentrated in Thai Hoa, Nghia Dan, Yen Thanh towns..., Vinh city alone has 3 clubs, namely: Thanh Vinh Fishing Club, Nghe An Fishing Club and Nghe An Fishing Forum, with a total of more than 1,000 members.

The head of Nghe An Fishing Club, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, also said: “The club was established in 2013, aiming to connect people with the same passion for sport and recreational fishing. Up to now, we have organized 2 open club fishing tournaments, each attracting 60-100 anglers nationwide to participate. Our club has also participated in a number of sport fishing tournaments in provinces and cities across the country, established a separate website for members to connect and exchange experiences…”

In addition to fishing during the day, many young people now like to explore "fishing trips" that last from 2 to 3 days. For anglers, there is no joy comparable to the moment when a fish bites the hook. But there are days when they do not catch any fish, but for them it is still very meaningful, because besides hoping to bring fish home, the next thing they get is moments of peace and letting go of all worries in life.

According to our research, the hobby of fishing with a reel, six-hook fishing rod, and trolling has appeared in Nghe An for a long time, but has developed most strongly in the last 5 years.

Every weekend, on the dam lakes in Nghe An, you can see fishermen quietly waiting for fish.

They can be groups of teachers, officials gathering together to relax; or businessmen choosing the fishing lake as a place to discuss business. But the most common are still office workers who go to relax on the weekends. Sometimes we even see young couples fishing together, enjoying the fun of fishing and the romantic atmosphere by the lake...

Along with this hobby, agencies and shops selling fishing rods, fishing gear, and bait of all kinds have sprung up in Vinh city and districts.

The "tools" of those considered "fishing addicts" that we had the opportunity to inspect today have many modern accessories, with many different prices. To have a "decent" fishing gear, you have to spend about 1 million VND, and for high-end fishing gear, called "monstrous", it has to be up to 60 million VND. Not to mention, in addition to tools such as fishing rods, reels, floats, hooks... for "players", they also equip other tools such as remote-controlled canoes to drop bait, priced from 2.8 to 3.2 million VND or fish detectors (fish finders) priced from 3 to 10 million VND...

During the year, autumn is considered the time chosen by many people to go fishing. Because this is the time when fish go out to find food the most to store energy before the winter break. In particular, fish species such as perch, carp, grass carp... are the most abundant fish at this time. Accordingly, the most chosen locations in Vinh City cannot fail to mention Cua Nam fish lake, Goong lake, Tecco fish lake... Expanding to the suburbs, they are Hung Chinh (Hung Nguyen), Hong Long (Nam Dan), Nghi Thuan (Nghi Loc)...

Because fishing is growing, many people participate, so there are hundreds of fishing service points in districts and towns competing to serve the needs of fishing enthusiasts. Typical examples are Mr. Chung's fish lake (Nghi Loc), Mr. Tuan's fish lake (Nam Dan), Mr. Tan's fish lake (Yen Thanh)... These fishing points collect from 20,000-50,000/ fishing hour but still attract many people to drop their rods. According to anglers, at these locations, which are considered "fish barns", those who are "lucky" can catch more than 100 kg of fish per day.
