Caught a giant goldfish in Goong Lake

At around 2am on June 22, angler Do Anh Hai in Hung Phuc Ward (Vinh City) went fishing in Goong Lake and caught a giant golden carp. This golden carp was nearly 80cm long, over 30cm wide, and weighed 7.3kg.

Mr. Hai and many anglers said they have been fishing at Goong Lake for many years and have seen many people catch big fish, but mainly grass carp, silver carp, and bighead carp. However, they have never seen a giant golden carp like this.

As soon as he caught the fish, many people came to buy it at a high price, but Mr. Hai did not sell it because he thought it was a released fish, so he decided to keep it for a while and then release it into the natural environment.

Goong Lake was dug during the French colonial period to get soil to build the Truong Thi and Ben Thuy power, match and timber factories. In the past, workers used carts to transport soil and rocks here, so it was gradually called Goong Lake. Goong Lake is one of the largest regulating lakes in Vinh City with a water surface area of ​​up to 5.64 hectares.
