Not only cultivating their own happiness, many women in Vinh Long hamlet, Nghi Long commune, Nghi Loc district also contribute to preserving happiness for many other families when working together in the club "Preventing violence associated with propaganda and education on ethics and lifestyle in the family".

For more than 10 years of operation, this club has helped many families struggling with life's ups and downs find happiness again, becoming a typical club for women in the whole province.

Eliminate stereotypes

Around noon, the grocery store and motorbike repair shop of Ms. Nguyen Thi Quang (born in 1975, Vinh Long hamlet, Nghi Long commune, Nghi Loc district) still had many customers passing by. Her husband was away, so Ms. Quang took on the task of changing chains and motorbike tires for customers.

Looking at her quick and agile movements, Ms. Tran Thi Hanh - a member of the ClubPrevention of domestic violenceof Vinh Long hamlet laughed and said: Ms. Quang is a modern woman, good at housework but also good at economics. She looks slim, but every time her husband is away, she takes on the job of repairing motorbikes and bicycles. The person who guides her is none other than Mr. Tran Minh Phuong (born in 1974) - her husband.

When work was over, Ms. Quang said that she and her husband were both freelancers, got married and had their first daughter in 2000, then two more daughters in 2007 and 2012.

“If it were complete, everyone would probably want to have both boys and girls. And perhaps because of that thought, in the past 12 years, since the birth of the youngest child, many people have asked my husband why he didn’t “force his wife” to have another child to find a son. Mr. Phuong often answered people innocently: A good child is more important than a son! My husband’s point of view was reinforced by the support of the aunts and uncles in the Domestic Violence Prevention Club of the neighborhood. Over time, we have become more mentally clear to maintain our point of view,” Ms. Quang confided.

The valuable thing is that during the journey of more than 10 years, there have been very active members. For example, Ms. Tran Thi Hanh (born in 1962) - who has been attached to the role of Head of the Women's Association of the hamlet for 20 years.

While working in the association and implementing club programs, she has helped many families better understand gender equality. Thanks to that, domestic violence has gradually decreased, and women are increasingly confident in asserting their values in life. Her family also has 3 daughters, but she is always proud and encourages them to develop according to their abilities. It is this open-mindedness that has helped her become a pioneer in eliminating old prejudices and spreading positive thinking to many families in the neighborhood.

Dissolve violence with understanding

Mr. Dang Khac Duong - Secretary of Vinh Long hamlet Party cell and Head of Domestic Violence Prevention Club said: "In more than 10 years of operation, club members have encountered many "laugh-out-loud" stories.

For example, there are cases where the wife comes home late from volleyball practice, the husband angrily locks the gate and does not let her in. Or there are some husbands who get too drunk, come home and are scolded by their wives, leading to arguments and fights. Sometimes, just because of an unintentional sentence or a rumor from outside, the couple misunderstands and gets angry with each other for a whole week, making the family atmosphere tense.

At such times, club members will discuss and find suitable approaches. They often meet each other privately to listen, share and look at the problem objectively. When both parties gradually understand, the club will arrange a meeting together, creating an opportunity for the couple to talk openly and resolve misunderstandings. Thanks to this perseverance and delicate, gentle handling, many families have found a way to resolve the knot of conflict.

Mr. Duong said that to change people's awareness, the club does not only stop at propaganda and consultation sessions but also builds dramatized skits, bringing everyday stories to the stage to convey messages in a vivid and easy-to-understand way.

In 2024, at the Contest "Learning about the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control and the "Happy Family" Club organized by the Department of Culture and Sports, many members of the Domestic Violence Prevention Club of Vinh Long hamlet participated and won the Second Prize. Becoming one of the typical clubs of Nghe An women.
In addition, the club also integrates propaganda into cultural exchanges, village meetings, and anniversaries. Thanks to this flexible approach, the message of gender equality and domestic violence prevention becomes easy to understand and absorb.

“In 2012 and 2013, before the club was established, the rate of cultural families in the hamlet was only over 80%. Now, this number has increased to 98.4%.

Notably, over the past 5 years, there has been no divorce in the area. These figures are not only the result of a model but also a mark of a change in awareness and the silent efforts of club members to preserve happiness for many families.
