Ryan Mason is recovering from surgery on a fractured skull sustained in a collision with Gary Cahill during Chelsea's game with Hull.

Captain Michael Dawson, team doctor Mark Waller, head of medical services Rob Price and club secretary Matt Wild visited Mason on January 23. "Ryan is conscious and talking about the incident that occurred during yesterday's match (January 22). He will remain in hospital for a few more days for observation. The club will continue to liaise closely with Ryan, his family and the doctors at St Mary's Hospital," said a Hull club representative.

Mason could return to the field after fully recovering from injury.

Mason was rushed to St Mary's Hospital in London after the collision with Cahill. There, doctors had to operate on the fractured skull to minimize the risk to his life and health.

After the match, Mason received a lot of sharing and encouragement from his coach and colleagues. Among them were Cahill, Chelsea coach Antonio Conte, superstar Gareth Bale and striker Harry Kane.

"Ryan and his family are overwhelmed by the support they have received. Thank you so much for the positive comments in the media and press over the past 24 hours," said a Hull club representative.
