According to The Sun, Arnold Peralta was shopping with his wife Vanessa Oliva when the assassination occurred on December 10th. As the player returned to his car, two suspects on a motorcycle approached and opened fire. Peralta was hit by a total of 18 bullets to the head and chest.
According to The Guardian, police arrested a supermarket security guard where the assassination took place for refusing to hand over video footage of the shooting. Two suspects remain at large.

“My country is miserable because there are so many murderers. It seems killing is becoming fashionable. People like that don’t deserve to live,” Peralta wrote on Twitter in 2014.
Peralta returned to playing in Honduras in January 2015, after two years with Glasgow Rangers in Scotland. The player and his wife also recently welcomed a three-month-old daughter.
