Hull player suffers fractured skull after horrific collision with Chelsea defender.

Hull midfielder Ryan Mason was rushed to hospital for immediate surgery following a horrific collision with Chelsea defender Gary Cahill.

During the match between Chelsea and Hull last night/early this morning (January 23rd, Vietnam time), Hull midfielder Ryan Mason suffered a serious injury. In the 13th minute, he and Cahill of the home team were involved in an aerial challenge. Cahill's head struck Mason's temple.

Immediately, both players fell to the ground and required medical attention. Cahill of Chelsea suffered no serious injuries, but Mason was dazed and needed oxygen. He received first aid on the pitch for seven minutes and was then taken straight to St Mary's Hospital.

Sport Mail reports that Mason underwent surgery at the hospital after suffering a fractured skull. His condition has since stabilized.

Hull City also released a statement: "We confirm Mason suffered a head injury during the match at Chelsea. He was taken to St Mary's Hospital for surgery. His condition is stable but he will remain in hospital for observation in the coming days."

Mason was injured while jumping to contest a corner kick for Chelsea. Cahill, being the one who initiated the jump, was not seriously injured.

"We bumped heads. I felt dizzy but I also knew that Mason had fallen. I hope he doesn't have any serious health problems," Cahill said after the match.

Similarly, manager Antonio Conte also sent his best wishes to Mason: "First of all, all members of Chelsea Football Club would like to send Mason our best wishes. We hope he will recover as soon as possible. It was truly an unfortunate accident."
