(Baonghean.vn) – After the victory of the Vietnam national team against the UAE, player Khalifa Mubarak received a rather strong reaction from the coaching staff of the away team.

In the 39th minute, referee Jumpei Iida did not hesitate to show Khalifa Mubarak Alhmammadi a red card for preventing Tien Linh from scoring in the 39th minute. The away team also played with 10 men for the remaining 2/3 of the match. This disadvantage increased when a few minutes later, Tien Linh opened the score of the match.

After the match, coach Bert van Marwijk also complained about this somewhat heavy-handed decision, he said: "I don't think the referee made such a quick decision. There was no VAR here, both players fell and it was not an intentional foul."

It can be said that the UAE player received a direct red card for the foul that prevented a clear scoring opportunity for the opponent. According to FIFA's football rules, the factors considered to make the decision include: Distance between the place of the foul and the goal, direction of attack, ability to keep the ball or ability to control the ball, position and number of defensive players.

Besides, the attacking player Tien Linh (who was fouled) had complete control of the ball (alone), or the Vietnamese player's ability to control the ball was very high compared to all other players.

Japanese referee Jumpei Iida is known as the "card king" after issuing 1,241 yellow cards, 12 direct red cards and blowing 74 penalties after 415 matches in all competitions.
