Teachers at Huynh Thuc Khang High School are now allowed to stop giving extra lessons.

(Baonghean.vn) -This was the statement from the school principal after receiving information that teachers at the school had been organizing unauthorized extra classes.

On the afternoon of July 13th, Mr. Cao Thanh Bao, Principal of Huynh Thuc Khang High School, sent a document to the Department of Education and Training reporting on the school's teachers organizing extra classes at Vinh Industrial University.

Specifically, according to the school's leadership: During the 2016-2017 school year, the school demolished the 3-story school building to construct a 4-story building, leaving only 21 classrooms for 42 classes operating in two shifts. Because the school only has enough classrooms for regular classes, it had to rent 18 classrooms from Vinh University of Industry for student review sessions.

The students' review sessions were jointly managed by the two schools, and Huynh Thuc Khang High School completed the settlement of classroom rental payments for Vinh University of Industry up to May 2017. From June 2017 to the present, the university has no need to rent classrooms.

However, since July 3, 2017, some teachers have been borrowing premises from Vinh University of Industry to organize extra classes. The organization of these summer classes by some teachers is contrary to the regulations of the Department of Education and Training and was not authorized by the university.

Following this incident, the school principal has instructed the teachers to immediately cease all tutoring and supplementary classes and to submit a written explanation. The school will conduct a thorough review and clarify the responsibilities of all individuals involved.

Further elaborating on this matter, Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan, Chief of the Office of the Department of Education and Training, stated: Since May 2017, the Director of the Department of Education and Training has issued a document requiring schools not to organize extra classes or tutoring during the summer. Therefore, teachers independently organizing extra classes is contrary to the regulations of the education sector. The Department's stance is to seriously address the issue, both for the collective and individuals who violated the regulations.
