Marking a beautiful new rural area in Son Thanh commune (Yen Thanh district).
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 11th, the judging panel of the "Beautiful New Rural Commune" competition in Nghe An province visited Son Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, to conduct on-site evaluations.
Son Thanh is one of two communes in Yen Thanh district participating in the 2018 Nghe An province's beautiful new rural commune competition. After achieving the new rural commune standard in 2013, ranking among the top in the province, the commune immediately began upgrading the criteria and building a model new rural commune, a beautiful new rural commune.
To date, 100% of the roads in the area have been asphalted or concreted; the irrigation system in the fields has been basically reinforced; average per capita income has reached over 52 million VND/person/year; the poverty rate is only 2.13%; and 18 out of 19 hamlets have achieved the title of cultural village.

A highlight of Son Thanh's beautiful new rural area competition is the commune's effective production organization, improving the material and spiritual lives of its people. Mushrooms produced by Son Thanh residents meet VietGAP standards, with a yield of nearly 100 tons of various types of mushrooms and revenue of nearly 2 billion VND per year.
In addition, the area has more than 50 models of ornamental gardens combined with economic gardens; nearly 10km of model flower-lined roads in the hamlets; and one model flower-lined road planted by the commune with a length of 1,400m including flower beds and 112 sấu trees…
After conducting an on-site inspection and evaluation of the 13 criteria for a beautiful new rural commune in Son Thanh, the provincial judging panel highly appreciated the results and efforts of the locality, especially the outstanding criteria in Son Thanh. At the same time, they pointed out shortcomings and limitations so that the commune can continue to consolidate, upgrade, and develop, deserving to be a beautiful new rural commune and becoming a livable countryside.
