On January 18, 2023, following the closing of the 3rd extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued Notice No. 404/TB-UBTVQH15 on the exercise of the powers of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Accordingly, based on the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Law No. 57/2014/QH13 on the Organization of the National Assembly, as amended and supplemented by Law No. 65/2020/QH14; Resolution No. 83/2023/QH15 dated January 18, 2023, at the 3rd extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly; and the Politburo's conclusion on the assignment of a Central Committee member to hold the position of Acting President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly respectfully announces: Ms. Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Vice President, will hold the position of Acting President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam until the National Assembly elects a new President.

Ms. Vo Thi Anh Xuan, born on January 8, 1970; hometown: Thoi Son Commune, Tinh Bien District, An Giang Province; professional qualifications: Bachelor of Chemistry Education, Master of Public Administration.
She was a member of the Central Committee of the Party: 11th (alternate), 12th, and 13th terms; and a member of the National Assembly: 14th term.
From 2001 to 2010, she held various positions: Vice President and President of the An Giang Provincial Women's Union; Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department; and Secretary of the Tan Chau Town Party Committee. Subsequently, she served as Vice Chairperson of the Provincial People's Committee and Deputy Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee.
On October 2, 2015, the Politburo assigned and appointed her to the position of Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 2010-2015 term. Immediately afterwards, the 10th Provincial Party Congress, for the 2015-2020 term, elected her to the position of Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and she was re-elected as Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
On April 6, 2021, at the 11th session of the 14th National Assembly, Ms. Vo Thi Anh Xuan was elected Vice President of Vietnam and was re-elected to this position at the first session of the 15th National Assembly in July 2021, a position she holds to this day.

The National Assembly relieved Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc of his duties as President of Vietnam.
