(Baonghean.vn) - Taking advantage of natural resources, Ms. Tran Thi Luc in Muong village, Ngoc Lam resettlement commune, Thanh Chuong district, has successfully built a closed-loop integrated livestock farm model, earning a profit of 300 million VND per year and providing employment for dozens of local workers.

In 2004, Ms. Tran Thi Luc's family leased 30 hectares in the Man Tac area of Thanh Thinh commune (now Muong village, Ngoc Lam resettlement commune) to invest in an ecological farm.

Ms. Luc's family farm has many livestock such as buffaloes, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, and goats, and they even dig ponds to raise fish... all of which are local breeds; with a closed-loop farming process.

At the same time, she planned areas for growing corn, potatoes, and sugarcane to create feed for livestock, while preserving the natural forest and grassland areas for grazing cattle and buffalo. The manure from the cattle and buffalo is used to raise earthworms, a special type of worm that grows quickly, is high in protein, and is used as feed for chickens, ducks, and fish. All the organic fertilizer from livestock farming is used to grow grass, fruit trees, and vegetables.

Thanks to the closed-loop farming system, the food supplied to the market is guaranteed to be clean.

To protect and care for her livestock, Ms. Luc hired a veterinarian, four professional workers, and many local villagers to carry out the manual production processes.

Currently, Ms. Luc's farm has 25 breeding buffaloes and cows, 35 goats, 50 breeding and commercial pigs, over 1,200 chickens, 400 wild ducks, and 2 hectares of fish ponds. Besides the calves sold to local people for breeding, the chickens, ducks, and goats are also supplied to several restaurants in Thanh Chuong district, Vinh city, and some restaurants in Da Nang.

With a bold approach, after 8 years of building her farm, Ms. Tran Thi Luc has succeeded with a clean livestock farming model. The closed-loop farming process has utilized readily available feed sources, reduced investment costs, and as a result, the farm's net income each year exceeds 300 million VND.
