After a period of accumulating experience and production knowledge, in 2011 he returned to his hometown to start a business. At first, Mr. Thich focused on investing in pig farming. Although the farming efficiency was quite good, after each batch was sold, the source of piglets to raise the new batch was scarce. To proactively source piglets for his own family farm, and at the same time meet the demand for piglets for local farmers, Mr. Thich borrowed capital to invest in a concentrated pig farm. On an area of about 1,800m2 of garden and hills, he built a system of integrated barns, including areas for breeding sows and areas for raising piglets. Each barn was invested with a bathing pool, a semi-automatic feeding system, and cameras to monitor the development and health changes of the pigs.
Sharing his farming secrets, Mr. Bui Dang Thich said: “Every month, I spray deodorant twice to ensure that the barn and surrounding environment are always kept clean and free of pathogens. At the same time, I vaccinate livestock against diseases according to the correct technique. The main food source is corn and rice purchased from local people.”
Thanks to the application of a closed breeding process and strict adherence to vaccination, the pigs grow healthily and have few diseases. From 30 sows and 3 foreign boars, each year he breeds and sells nearly 700 breeding pigs to markets inside and outside the district.

Having succeeded in raising sows, Mr. Thich continued to invest in raising meat chickens. Thanks to his solid knowledge of animal husbandry, he is always proactive in selecting breeds, preventing diseases, and ensuring the right technical feed source for the chickens. He raises chickens using the free-range method in the garden and hills, so the meat quality is delicious.
To find product outlets, Mr. Thich increased promotion and connection through Internet channels. Thanks to that, more and more customers know about his hill chicken farm. Every year, he raises 2 batches, each batch has over 3,000 chickens, selling over 8 tons of chicken meat. The farm's main markets for commercial chickens are Vinh city and Hanoi...

With his acumen, dynamism, and ability to apply science and technology to livestock farming, Mr. Bui Dang Thich has now built a high-income economic development model; the dream of many local youths. With the model of developing sow and broiler farming, his family earns over 1 billion VND per year, after deducting expenses, the profit is about 500 million VND. Not only enriching his family, Mr. Thich also creates regular jobs for 3 workers, with a salary of over 3 million VND/month.
Discussing the effective livestock farming model in the locality, Mr. Tran Quang Trung - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Duc Son commune said: "Currently, Mr. Thich is bidding for an additional 4 hectares of land to expand the livestock farm to raise more than 300 commercial pigs. The commune will strengthen propaganda, encourage people to come to the farm to learn and create conditions for technical support for people to replicate the livestock farming model, in order to exploit advantages and develop the local economy."
