Duong Anh Vu can remember over 10,000 pieces of world history data, but he can't remember his girlfriend's phone number.

These days, Duong Anh Vu (from Ninh Thuan province) is busy finishing his work in Vietnam before going to England to study. No trip has ever brought Vu as many emotions as this one, because he will be leaving the most important woman in his life – Ha Thu, from Binh Phuoc province. In his 29 years of life, this is the first time Vu has realized how intensely he loves someone, fears being separated from someone, and fears losing someone.

From a poor student to the person with the most memory records in the world.

With four world academic records, Duong Anh Vu currently holds the most academic memory records in the world. But before becoming such a "walking encyclopedia," Vu started out like everyone else, perhaps even worse, because throughout his school years, he consistently ranked last in his class, failed exams, repeated years, and even nearly missed his graduation exams.

The Chairman of the Guinness World Records commented on Anh Vu: "I am very surprised by your memory. I am even more surprised by your previous academic achievements. This shows that you are a completely ordinary person. But you have proven to the world that nothing is impossible and have inspired underprivileged children to strive for success."

Vũ's life took a turning point one evening after his father called him into his room. Unlike usual times when his father would scold him, and he would bow his head like a criminal, that day his father told Vũ to sit opposite him and said, "Others study for nine years, you've studied for ten, but the more you study, the worse you get, from semi-private to continuing education, there's no saving you anymore. Go learn a trade."

At that moment, Vu burst into tears, afraid he wouldn't be able to go to school anymore. He begged his father for another chance, but his father only said, "From now on, I won't care anymore. Do whatever you want." His father's harsh words, however, gave Vu a lifeline. From then on, he threw himself into studying, always craving knowledge. Vu graduated from high school with the highest grades in the school.

During his university years, driven by his passion for research, he read a great deal. Each time he went to the library, he would lug home stacks of books. One day, Vu suddenly realized he could remember complex data and connect it together. A jolt of electricity seemed to run through him, and the idea of learning to remember this data came to mind. At that time, Vu was a second-year student at the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.

Anh Vu shows off his ability to remember the areas of countries around the world and the value of Pi:

From then on, Vu began training his deep memory, to remember things permanently. Coincidentally, during his graduate studies, a friend recorded a video of Vu's memorization ability and posted it online. Subsequently, Thailand contacted Vu and invited him to come and verify the record.

A year later, the World Record Support Research Fund, the High Range World Record Book, and the Incredible Record Book confirmed three more records for Duong Anh Vu. According to the expert panel, Vu could potentially have up to nine records confirmed.

Duong Anh Vu's main job currently is providing consulting support on international economic and political issues to several domestic and international organizations. In addition, he teaches memory skills and brain optimization.

Dumped by his girlfriend because he couldn't remember her phone number.

Despite possessing extensive knowledge of the "heavenly realm," Anh Vu often forgets the "earthly" details. He frequently misplaces his keys and loses things. Most notably, this memory record holder cannot distinguish between the three measurements of a woman's body (during a filming session in Thailand, he was once embarrassed for mistaking breasts for buttocks)., your girlfriend's phone number and birthdayThis was also the "last straw," causing his college girlfriend to break up with him.

When starting subsequent relationships, Vu showed no intention of changing this "bad habit." Before dating any girl, he would clearly state what he could and couldn't do, and only if she accepted it would he start a relationship.

Duong Anh Vu is in a beautiful relationship with Ha Thu, a former beauty queen from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Regarding his current girlfriend, Ha Thu, a final-year student at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vu also asked this question. He still remembers Thu's reply: "I'm not sure I'll remember your phone number, so I don't expect you to remember mine. And don't worry, Facebook will remind you of my birthday."

Many people might think that not remembering a lover's phone number or birthday proves that the love isn't deep enough. But for Vu, this isn't true. He dedicates his brain to remembering knowledge, while phone numbers are simply saved on his device. Even his own number, Vu has never bothered to remember.

Perhaps Vu can't do this basic thing, but he does well in things that few men can. Vu's girlfriend shared that he is very thoughtful in love.

"Once I was very sad because I was too busy with exams to pick him up. When we met, Vu gave me a gift. Inside the pretty little box were all the things I used to give him whenever I gave him a cake, like sticky notes, flowers, and souvenirs," Thu recounted. She felt appreciated because her boyfriend had turned small things into something significant.

Every time Vu returned from a business trip or competition, he would go to his girlfriend's house first. Ha Thu happily recounted: "After confirming three world records in India, Vu didn't go home to his family or answer the press immediately, but instead took a bus to my house. He said he wanted me to be the first person to hear him tell the story. He wanted to share all those first, primal, and beautiful emotions with me."

They had been in love for about a year, but both felt like it had been much longer, because they had continuously experienced a full range of emotions. Three weeks ago, Vu and his girlfriend were traveling from Ninh Thuan to Saigon when, while crossing a bridge, their sleeper bus suddenly overturned in the middle of the night. In that life-or-death situation, Vu realized he loved this girl much more than he had ever thought.

Anh Vu once cried when he found his girlfriend again after a car accident.

"The moment I realized the bus had overturned, I tried to call out to Thu, who was two beds away from me. I heard her reply, but I was being pushed away by the fleeing crowd. Even at the bus door, I couldn't see Thu, so I instinctively called out again. Only when I saw her did I feel like I could breathe again," Vu recounted, his voice still trembling. That was the most painful experience of his life, his feet bleeding from stepping on broken glass without realizing it.

Having gone through this unexpected situation, they appreciate each other even more. This weekend, the record-holder will be going to England to pursue his PhD. Because it's a special program, Vu will try to complete it within about a year so he can return to Vietnam to hold a wedding with the woman he loves.

Duong Anh Vu's abilities have been recognized by world record organizations:

- Memorize 108 global statistical data systems with 22,248 data entries. The data includes area, coastline length, exchange rates, GDP, currency, political systems, etc.

- I can memorize 1,022 works of Vietnamese and world literature.

- Able to memorize the entire world map, the largest size available, with 2,500 place names in international languages (English, Spanish, Chinese, etc.)

- Accurately remember 10,056 milestones in world history, culture, science, and art.
