The owner of the bird worth 145 million VND is Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong (Vinh Tan ward, Vinh city). The bird has a very … special name: Dead!

Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong takes care of his "pet" starling. This bird alone has won dozens of awards in competitions in and outside the province.

Explaining this “joking” name, Mr. Chuong said: “In April 2015, a friend brought a pair of red-whiskered bulbuls from Hue and gave me one, which is the current precious bird. At first, when I first raised it, it didn’t show any special features, so I was a bit disappointed and thought to myself: So I’ll throw it away, let’s name it ‘Dead!’” Unexpectedly, only about 5 months later, through the process of caring for it and training it to sing, the red-whiskered bulbul continuously won many awards at dozens of competitions in and outside the province. At the same time, the bird’s features and appearance gradually “broke down”.

According to connoisseurs, Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong’s starling has a thick crest, long “blade”, wide chest, thin feathers, and looks very fierce. These are the characteristics of a precious bird, with the “quality” to keep it for a long time.

Most recently, someone offered 145 million VND to buy the bird “Die Roi” but Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong still shook his head and refused. In addition, Mr. Chuong currently owns many other valuable birds such as the starlings named “Ma Dao” and “That Lac”… which are valued at about 10-15 million VND.

If we consider only the white-rumped bird, the white-rumped bird of Mr. Ho Trong Lam (Vinh Tan ward, Vinh city) is currently priced at 120 million VND, considered the top one or two in the bird-playing community in Nghe An.

A mutant yellow-feathered oriole with yellow feathers, pink beak, and pink feet is valued at 120 million VND and according to bird connoisseurs, its value will continue to increase.

The yellow-rumped ibis is a genetically mutated bird with yellow feathers, pink feet, and a pink beak. Mr. Lam was lucky to buy it from a local resident in Cua Hoi 3 years ago. He said that he has been passionate about raising yellow-rumped ibis for more than ten years. Besides work, his only hobby is taking care of a flock of about 15 birds, and each one is valuable. "I don't dare go anywhere for more than 2 days, because if I go away for a long time, the birds will miss their owners, and the owners will miss their birds, and no one can take care of them for me," Mr. Lam shared.

In addition to the yellow-rumped shama, Mr. Ho Trong Lam's "huge" bird collection is also famous for many other unique birds such as the apricot-whiskered shama, the red-cleaved shama, estimated to cost around 50 million VND...

If the “outsiders” look at the flock of chirping birds, no two birds are different from each other, the “people” in the bird-keeping profession have experience and “standard” to evaluate the precious bird as very special. Accordingly, in terms of silhouette (shape), a good bird must have a five-long or five-short shape. The five-long shape includes: long neck, long body, long legs, long beak and long tail; the five-short shape is the opposite of the above criteria.

On the other hand, in terms of plumage, thin-feathered bulbuls are the most popular because of their "playful" and "fighting" qualities. Birds with thin beaks and lower jaws larger than upper jaws are diligent in singing.

Birds' crests are also divided into many types: Lion crests are birds with fierce features; Ding crests are birds that are often active and playful; Cui crests are thick and short crests, birds with this type of crest often have "strength" to fight, strong. The rarest, most unique and sought after is the lion crest.

About bird throats: Cow throats are the most popular because they look very beautiful; Bullfrog throats belong to rare birds, when singing their throats flare out like a cobra.

Bird eye criteria are also often noticed by bird players. A good bird's eyes must be shaped like lemon seeds, bulging, and the bird must be very "alert" during competition.
