ChatGPT enters a new era with Apps in ChatGPT

The Apps in ChatGPT feature allows users to access Spotify, Canva, Coursera, Zillow, and more directly within ChatGPT without leaving the chat window, ushering in a new era for AI interaction.

ChatGPT becomes the central hub for all applications.

OpenAI has officially launched Apps in ChatGPT, a step forward that transforms ChatGPT from just a chatbot into an integrated application platform. Now, users can chat with ChatGPT while simultaneously creating designs on Canva, listening to music on Spotify, or taking online courses on Coursera, all within a single interface.

According to the plan, by the end of 2025, OpenAI will allow developers to upload their own applications to the ChatGPT Store, similar to how applications are released on the App Store or Google Play.

With over 800 million weekly users, ChatGPT Store is predicted to become the world's largest AI ecosystem, opening up tremendous opportunities for the global developer community.

Directly integrate control of external applications into ChatGPT.

With these new integrations, ChatGPT can directly call commands to other platforms like Spotify, Zillow, or Canva, allowing users to perform actions quickly without opening a new tab.

This mechanism is similar to the "mini-apps" on Telegram or Discord, but combined with artificial intelligence, allowing users to give commands in natural language. You can talk to ChatGPT and ask it to "create a morning music playlist" or "find an apartment with a garden near the center of Hanoi," all done right within the chat window.

Experience something new with the first applications in ChatGPT.

Spotify now allows users to connect their accounts, find new albums, create playlists, or receive music and podcast recommendations based on conversations. Premium users can create personalized playlists, while free accounts can choose from pre-existing lists such as New Music Friday or Discover Weekly.

Canva offers the ability to design directly within ChatGPT. Users simply need to make a request, for example: "Create an Instagram post for the upcoming sale," and ChatGPT will display a full-screen preview, allowing them to edit the text, colors, or style before opening it further in Canva to finalize the design.

Figma helps create diagrams, edit charts, or suggests ways to visualize data. Users can switch to Figma with just the "Edit in Figma" button.

Zillow brings the power of real estate search to ChatGPT. You can ask, “Which homes have large backyards in the suburbs?” and receive results with photos, maps, and prices. The app currently supports both rental and sale properties, and plans to add 3D tours in the future.

Expedia and Booking.com are upgrading your smart travel experience. You can ask ChatGPT to find “hotels in New York under $400 in November” and receive a list of hotels, flights, maps, and prices updated in real time.

Coursera brings online classes to ChatGPT, allowing users to quickly learn topics they're interested in and receive relevant course suggestions from AI while chatting.

Upcoming app and development prospects

The list of apps coming to ChatGPT is extensive, including Uber, DoorDash, Instacart, OpenTable, Target, Peloton, Tripadvisor, and AllTrails. However, these apps are not currently available in Europe due to legal issues.

OpenAI will also expand upload rights for the developer community, requiring applications to be useful, safe, and provide a consistent user experience. Applications focused on ride-hailing, food delivery, order tracking, or service lookup will be encouraged, while advertising content or complex processes will be restricted.

With Apps in ChatGPT, OpenAI is taking a step closer to turning ChatGPT into an “AI OS,” a conversational operating system. From a chat window, users can design, listen to music, study, book rooms, or shop... all using speech or text.
