Market fire at dawn tragically claims the lives of a married couple.
At approximately 2:15 AM on February 6th, a major fire broke out at Chà Là Market (Chà Là Hamlet, Trần Phán Commune, Đầm Dơi District, Cà Mau Province), tragically claiming the lives of a married couple.
According to eyewitnesses, at around that time, many vendors at Chà Là market suddenly discovered a fire breaking out in the center of the market.

Mr. Xuyen, an eyewitness to the fire, recounted: "I was sleeping in the yard, guarding my goods for the Lunar New Year sales, when I heard loud shouts from people nearby. I ran over and saw a fierce fire raging at the intersection of the market. People quickly used buckets and fire extinguishers to put out the fire, and then the fire department arrived."
According to initial information from the People's Committee of Tran Phan commune, the fire almost completely destroyed the belongings in 5 stalls belonging to small traders. Two people, a married couple, Ms. Duong Ngoc Tran and Mr. Tra Thai Hoang, died after being trapped in the fire. Initial estimates of the damage are approximately 3.8 billion VND.

Ms. Le Thu Phuong, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Tran Phan commune, said that the fire originated from the stalls of three households selling ready-made clothing, electrical appliances, etc., making them highly flammable.
Immediately after residents reported the incident, the commune dispatched local firefighters to quickly extinguish the fire along with local people. Subsequently, the Fire Prevention and Control Police force of Ca Mau province arrived at the scene and deployed personnel to put out the blaze. By approximately 4:00 AM, the fire was completely extinguished.
According to Ms. Phuong, the police have also conducted autopsies on the two victims of the fire. The commune has dispatched militia, police officers, and youth union members to the scene to help residents clean up and sanitize the area.
The initial cause may have been a short circuit.The incident is still being investigated by the authorities.
