The fire broke out at approximately 2:15 PM on the same day while a group of seven workers were carrying out repairs at a location on Nguyen Trai Street, Long Khanh town (Dong Nai province), in preparation for opening a karaoke business.

Because the fire spread so quickly, the victims were unable to escape in time. By the time people nearby managed to pull them out, the victims had suffered burns all over their bodies.
Despite being rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment, six victims died due to the severity of their burns, while the remaining victim is in critical condition.
Immediately after the incident occurred, the professional forces of the Dong Nai Provincial Police arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire and cordon off the area to investigate and clarify the cause of the incident.
According to Colonel Huynh Tien Manh, Director of the Dong Nai Provincial Police, the initial cause of the incident was that a group of workers were welding at the location when sparks from the welding machine unexpectedly ignited flammable materials.
