Horrific fire at Thanh Hoa candy factory

The factory has many partitions, it is possible that there are still people trapped inside.

Initial information from the Fire Prevention and Fighting Authority of Thanh Hoa province said that at around 8am this morning, a fire broke out at Trang An Vietnam Confectionery Joint Stock Company, located in Bim Son Town, Thanh Hoa.

People living near the factory said that while the company's workers had been working for about 30 minutes, smoke billowed and many workers ran outside.

“The fire quickly spread, while there were many partitions so there was a possibility that there were still workers trapped in the factory,” a worker said.

The fire broke out about 30 minutes after the company's workers started working. Military police were mobilized to the scene to help put out the fire.

After the fire broke out, dozens of police officers were mobilized to put out the fire. However, due to dry weather, strong winds and flammable materials, firefighting efforts are facing many difficulties.

Next, military and militia forces were also mobilized to control the fire to prevent it from spreading to other areas.

Initial information shows that the factory of nearly 1,500 m2 was burned down. The estimated damage is about 10 billion VND and currently two people are still trapped and being rescued.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
