Fire at 5-storey boarding house in Hanoi, 14 people died
A 5-storey boarding house in Trung Hoa ward (Cau Giay district, Hanoi) caught fire fiercely at night. Rescue, emergency and medical forces carried many victims out on stretchers. Initial reports indicate that 14 people died.
Initial information, the fire at the boarding house occurred at around 0:30 on May 24. This house is located in lane 119 Trung Kinh (Trung Hoa ward, Cau Giay district, Hanoi). The fire quickly spread, black smoke rose high.
According to people who witnessed the incident, the rental house has 5 floors, on the 1st floor there is a motorbike and electric bicycle repair shop.

Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hanoi City Police dispatched many fire trucks, rescue vehicles and ambulances to the scene.
However, because the house is located deep in a small alley less than 2m wide, more than 200m away from Trung Kinh street, the fire truck could not reach the scene. The rescue team had to pull a water pipe from Trung Kinh street to the scene to put out the fire.
According to the reporter's records, at the scene there were more than 10 ambulances from many forces on standby outside.

At more than 3:00 a.m., records at the scene showed that the authorities had taken many victims out on stretchers.

At 4:30 a.m. the same day, speaking to reporters, a representative of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hanoi City Police said that the rescue work had been completed.

The representative of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hanoi City Police also said that the authorities are still continuing to overcome the consequences of the fire.

A representative of Trung Hoa Ward People's Committee confirmed that many deaths have been recorded.

According to initial information, authorities determined that 14 people died and are continuing to count and identify them.
Police have blocked off Trung Kinh Street to conduct crime scene investigation.
