Train and bus tickets to Nghe An are selling out fast for the April 30th - May 1st holiday.

To meet the needs of the public during the holiday, all modes of transport, large and small, are operating at full capacity. According to observations at Vinh station on the afternoon of April 29th, the number of passengers arriving at the station has been steadily increasing, and all trains stopping at Vinh station are fully booked for April 29th and 30th.

Mr. Cao Ngoc Tuan, Head of Vinh Railway Transport Station, said: On April 29th, 11 pairs of trains stopped to pick up passengers at Vinh station, including 7 pairs of Thong Nhat trains, 3 pairs of regional trains, and 1 pair of NA 1-2 trains, with a total of approximately 2,500 passengers boarding and disembarking. Of these, nearly 1,500 passengers were traveling to Nghe An, and 1,000 passengers were traveling from Nghe An to other provinces and cities.

The number of visitors during the holiday is approximately 4-5 times higher than on normal days. The busiest time will be the evening of April 29th and the morning of April 30th, when the holiday officially begins.

This year, there's a clear trend of choosing to travel by train. This is not only because train ticket prices are relatively stable compared to the rising cost of airfare, but also because people want to experience the long journey on the North-South Reunification Expressway.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, Vietnam Railways launched the SE1 and SE4 trains, named the "Reunification Train," running across Vietnam, making this mode of transport even more attractive to tourists. Tickets for this train were quickly sold out. At Vinh station on the afternoon of April 29th, many passengers carried national flags and sang songs about love for their homeland and country during their journey during the holiday.

To better serve the travel needs of passengers, Vinh station has increased its staff to support people's travel, ensuring safety, speed, and convenience. Ticket prices are also publicly displayed at the station or on Vietnam Railways' online ticketing website, allowing passengers to choose the train, carriage, seat number, and departure time that suits them.

Besides trains, bus stations also recorded a sharp increase in passenger numbers. At Vinh North Bus Station, from April 27th to 30th, the number of buses departing increased by 20 to 30% compared to normal days. In particular, tickets for routes such as Vinh – Hanoi, Vinh – Da Nang, Vinh – Hue, Vinh – Ho Chi Minh City… were sold out a week in advance if traveling on April 29th and 30th.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, representative of a bus company operating the Vinh - Hanoi route, shared: "Most bus tickets for the April 30th holiday this year have been fully booked in advance, leaving us with almost no time to rest. As soon as we arrive at the station, we quickly grab a bite to eat, refuel, and immediately turn around to pick up the next group of passengers."

Not only trains and buses, but also the number of passengers booking plane tickets during the holiday has skyrocketed. Most flights to Vinh on April 29th were fully booked in economy class, with only a few business class tickets remaining at significantly higher prices.

According to surveys on the online ticketing websites of Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, etc., other flights with high booking volumes during the April 30th - May 1st holiday include: Vinh - Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh - Nha Trang, Vinh - Da Lat, Vinh - Can Tho, Vinh - Phu Quoc… ticket prices for these routes have doubled compared to normal days.

Mr. Nghiem Manh Tuan, Director of Vinh International Airport, said: Currently, Vinh Airport averages about 50 takeoffs and landings per day, and during holidays, airlines have increased flights to serve the public. The airport has also planned to ensure flight safety, security, and order for people returning home for the holidays.

To reduce pressure on public transport, the transport sector advises people to switch to private vehicles if possible. At the same time, if you have already bought a one-way ticket, you should proactively book your return ticket as well to avoid the hassle of searching for tickets after the holiday. Additionally, people can choose to travel during less peak hours, such as early morning or late night, to increase their chances of finding a ticket.
