Trump once caused a stir in the defense industry when he criticized the contract to build the new Air Force One presidential aircraft a month before officially taking office. On December 6, 2016, he tweeted, "Boeing is building a 747 Air Force One for future presidents but at an uncontrollable price, over $4 billion. Cancel the order."

This surprising announcement led to a series of talks withBoeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg.Following Trump's visit to the Mar-a-Lago resort in January, Muilenburg said, "We will complete the project at a lower price than that, and we are committed to working together to ensure that."

It will also have a sophisticated communications system and robust defense capabilities, while still ensuring comfortable working, relaxing, and resting spaces for the president's family.
