Che Linh is holding his first show featuring his own compositions.
The renowned singer used the pen name Tú Nhi when writing famous bolero songs such as "If We Part Ways Tomorrow" and "If We Are Separated".
Having held concerts in Hanoi many times before, this time, Che Linh only wants to hold a show honoring his own compositions on June 23rd and 24th at the Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace. He shared that Hanoi audiences always show their love for him, with large crowds attending every show, sometimes even filling every seat. "At the upcoming show, I get to do something I've always dreamed of: singing my own compositions. What could be more fulfilling than Che Linh honoring Tu Nhi's music?" he said.

Che Linh is holding his first live show to celebrate his own compositions. |
Until now, not all fans knew that in his role as a songwriter, Che Linh used the pen name Tu Nhi, which means a little child. "Tu" means handsome, and "Nhi" means child. "I simply thought, since I'm already a singer, I should use a different name when writing music. Tu Nhi specializes in writing songs for Che Linh to sing, and conversely, Che Linh only sings songs written by Tu Nhi. That idea would be unique and… better," he explained.
Tú Nhi's repertoire is as illustrious as Chế Linh's. Songs like "What If We Part Ways," "If We're Separated," "Sad Night in a Lonely Town," "Sad Moment in the Rainy Night," "Please Let Me Be a Stranger," etc., have become familiar to lovers of bolero music. Besides Chế Linh, many generations of singers have performed these works, but the renowned singer still wasn't satisfied because the vocal embellishments and emphasis weren't quite right. Most of Tú Nhi's compositions stemmed from his own feelings for women. Some songs were based on his own emotions, others on stories from acquaintances. He wrote quite a lot; just the recorded versions alone number 60-70.

MC Ky Duyen will host two shows by her "senior" colleagues. |
Commenting on how singers perform his songs, Che Linh said: “Each person has their own singing style. They sing with emotion and express themselves well, but whether they truly capture the essence of the song is another matter. In some places, instead of prolonging the note, they don't; instead of softening it, they don't, so it doesn't completely reflect the spirit of the song I wrote.” He further explained that in the song “Mai lỡ mình xa nhau” (What if we part ways tomorrow), the word ‘Mai’ doesn’t refer to time but is the name of the girl he once loved. While most singers sing ‘Mai lỡ/ mình xa nhau,’ Che Linh sings ‘Mai/lỡ mình xa nhau.’ (What if we part ways tomorrow?).
In the upcoming two live shows, Che Linh promises to reveal "all" the secrets behind each of his songs. He has invited close artist friends to participate in the program, including Pham Duc Thanh, MC Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen, Son Tuyen, Le Trinh, and Ha Van.
