Che Linh first time doing a show about his compositions

The famous singer used the pen name Tu Nhi when writing famous bolero works such as "Mai ư mình xa nhau" (If we are apart tomorrow) and "Nư chung mình cach han" (If we are apart tomorrow).

Having organized music nights in Hanoi many times, this time, Che Linh only wanted to hold a show to honor his own compositions on June 23 and 24 at the Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace. He shared that Hanoi audiences always love him when every show is very crowded, even without an empty seat. "In the upcoming show, I will be able to do something that I have always dreamed of in my life, which is to sing my own compositions. There is nothing happier than Che Linh honoring Tu Nhi's music," he said.

Until now, not all fans know that in his role as a composer, Che Linh uses the pen name Tu Nhi, which means a small child. "Tu" means handsome, "Nhi" means childish. "I just think simply, I am already a singer so when I write music, I have to use a different name. Tu Nhi specializes in writing songs for Che Linh to sing and vice versa, Che Linh only sings Tu Nhi's songs, that idea will be strange and... better" - he explained.

Tu Nhi's compositions are as famous as Che Linh's. Songs like Mai lo minh xa nhau, Neu chung minh cach tro, Dem buon tinh le, Doan buon dem mua, Xin lam nguoi xa la... have all become familiar to those who love bolero music. Besides Che Linh, many generations of singers have performed these works, but the famous singer is still not satisfied because of the incorrect vibrato and emphasis. Most of Tu Nhi's compositions come from his own feelings for beautiful women. Some songs are his emotions, some are inspired by stories of acquaintances. He wrote quite a lot, just the recorded songs alone amount to 60-70 songs.

Commenting on the way singers sing his songs, Che Linh said: “Each person has their own way of singing. They sing with emotion, and express themselves well, but whether or not it is true to the song is not necessarily true. There are places where they don’t prolong, and instead of dropping a little bit, they don’t drop a little bit, so it doesn’t completely match the spirit of the song I wrote.” He also analyzed that in the song Mai lo minh xa nhau, the word ‘Mai’ does not refer to time but is the name of the girl he once loved. While most singers sing ‘Mai lo/minh xa nhau’, Che Linh sings ‘Mai/lồ minh xa nhau’.

In the upcoming two live shows, Che Linh promised to tell “everything” about the secrets behind each of his songs. He invited close artists to participate in the program such as Pham Duc Thanh, MC Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen, Son Tuyen, Le Trinh, Ha Van.
