The consumer price index (CPI) for December 2025 increased by 0.22%.
In December, many key vegetable-growing areas in Nghe An province began harvesting winter vegetables, helping to gradually restore supply and cool down the price of green vegetables at local markets. The consumer price index (CPI) in December 2025 increased by 0.22% compared to the same period in November 2025, and increased by 2.5% compared to the same period last year.
According to statistics, in Nghe An province, the consumer price index (CPI) in December 2025 increased by 0.22% compared to the previous month. The average CPI for the fourth quarter of 2025 increased by 2.21% compared to the average CPI for the fourth quarter of 2024, and increased by 2.5% compared to December of the previous year.
Of the 11 main groups of goods and services, 8/11 groups showed an increase in price index compared to the previous month: Housing, electricity, water and construction materials increased by 1.18%; Clothing, hats and footwear increased by 0.41%; Postal and telecommunications services increased by 0.4%; Beverages and tobacco increased by 0.35%; Other goods and services increased by 0.2%; Food and catering services increased by 0.18%; Household equipment and appliances both increased by 0.15%; Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.06%.
There are two groups of goods whose prices remained stable compared to the previous month: medicines and medical services, and education.
One product group saw a decrease: Transportation, down 0.72%.
On average, in 2025, the consumer price index is projected to increase by 2.19% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Ten out of twelve commodity groups saw increases, including: Medicines and medical services (up 12.14%); Other goods and services (up 3.89%); Housing, electricity, water, fuel and building materials (up 3.67%); Food and catering services (up 3.19%); Culture, entertainment and tourism (up 1.5%); Clothing, hats and footwear (up 1.25%); Beverages and tobacco (up 1.05%); and Household equipment and appliances (up 0.66%).
Three product groups saw a decrease compared to the same period last year: Transportation (down 3.75%), Education (down 0.54%), and Postal and Telecommunications services (down 0.23%).
The gold price index in December 2025 increased by 1.13% compared to the previous month, and by 71.04% compared to December 2024.
Domestic gold prices fluctuate in line with world gold prices. The US dollar price index in 2025 increased by 0.22% compared to the previous month, and by 2.93% compared to December 2024; the average increase for the same period was 3.18%.
Total retail sales of goods and consumer services in December 2025 are estimated at VND 17,804.3 billion, an increase of 3.75% compared to the previous month and an increase of 11.59% compared to the same period last year. For the whole year 2025, total retail sales of goods and consumer services are estimated to reach VND 180,071.5 billion, an increase of 14.44% compared to 2024.
Retail sales of goods in December 2025 are estimated at VND 13,785 billion, accounting for 77.42% of total retail sales of goods and services, an increase of 2.86% compared to the previous month and a 9.34% increase compared to the same period last year. The estimated total retail sales for the whole year 2025 are VND 135,430 billion, an increase of 14.01% compared to 2024 (of which Q3 increased by 13.46% and Q4 increased by 12.39%).
