The consumer price index (CPI) in Nghe An province increased by 0.18% in May.
According to the Nghe An Provincial Statistics Office, the consumer price index (CPI) in May 2025 in the province increased by 0.18% compared to the previous month, increased by 2.06% compared to the same period last year; and increased by 0.51% compared to December 2024.
In May, the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) issued Decision No. 599/QD-EVN dated May 7, 2025, on adjusting the average retail electricity price. According to the adjusted average retail electricity price, it represents a 4.8% increase compared to the current average retail electricity price. Meanwhile, rising food prices and hot weather are the main reasons for the consumer price index (CPI) in May 2025 increasing by 0.18% compared to the previous month, 2.06% compared to the same period last year, and 0.51% compared to December 2024.

Of the 11 main consumer goods and services groups, 6 groups saw price index increases compared to the previous month: Housing, electricity, water and construction materials increased by 0.63%; Food and catering services increased by 0.36%; Other goods and services increased by 0.16%; Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.13%; Clothing, hats and footwear increased by 0.11%; Beverages and tobacco increased by 0.01%.
Two groups of indicators decreased compared to the previous month: Transportation decreased by 0.49% and Household equipment and supplies decreased by 0.06%.
Three price index groups remained unchanged compared to the previous month: postal and telecommunications services, education, and medicines and medical services.

On average, in the first five months of 2025, the consumer price index increased by 1.86% compared to the same period of the previous year. Eight out of eleven commodity groups saw increases, including: Medicines and medical services (up 13.34%); Other goods and services (up 6.85%); Housing, electricity, water, fuel and building materials (up 3.51%); Food and catering services (up 2.92%); Culture, entertainment and tourism (up 1.11%); Clothing, hats and footwear (up 1.05%); Household equipment and appliances (up 0.81%); and Beverages and tobacco (up 0.81%).
Three out of eleven commodity groups saw a decrease: Transportation (down 6.14%), Education (down 0.84%), and Postal and Telecommunications (down 0.41%).

The gold price index in May 2025 increased by 8.06% compared to the previous month and by 49.55% compared to the same period last year. The average for the first five months of 2025 increased by 46.7% compared to the same period last year. Domestic gold prices fluctuated in line with world gold prices.
The US dollar index rose 0.69% compared to the previous month and 2.56% year-on-year. The average for the first five months of 2025 was a 2.56% increase year-on-year.
