The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Nghe An province increased by 0.89% in July.
The increase in the minimum wage, fuel prices, electricity, and water prices are the main reasons why Nghe An's CPI in July increased compared to the previous month.
In July 2024, the implementation of Decree 73/2024/ND-CP, Clause 2, Article 3, increased the basic salary from 1.8 million VND/month to 2.34 million VND/month, effective from July 1, 2024. The adjustment of gasoline and diesel prices in line with national prices, and hot weather leading to increased demand for electricity and water compared to the previous month were the main reasons for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July 2024 increasing by 0.89% compared to the previous month; by 2.43% compared to December 2023; and by 5.33% compared to the same period last year. The average for the first seven months of 2024 increased by 5.73% compared to the same period in 2023.

According to the Nghe An Statistics Department, among the 11 main groups of goods and services, 8 groups saw price increases compared to the previous month: Other goods and services increased by 5.54%; Housing, electricity, water and construction materials increased by 1.66%; Transportation increased by 1.52%; Food and catering services increased by 0.68%; Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.56%; Beverages and tobacco increased by 0.18%; Household equipment and appliances increased by 0.13%; Clothing, hats and footwear increased by 0.04%.
There are two groups of indicators that remained unchanged compared to the previous month: Medicines and medical services, and education. One group of goods showed a decrease compared to the previous month: Postal and telecommunications services, down 0.19%.

On average, in the first seven months of 2024, the consumer price index increased by 5.73% compared to the same period last year. Eleven out of eleven commodity groups increased year-on-year, including: Housing, electricity, water, fuel and building materials (up 20.08%); Medicines and medical services (up 5.55%); Other goods and services (up 5.51%); Transportation (up 4.53%); Food and catering services (up 3.89%); Beverages and tobacco (up 2.71%); Culture, entertainment and tourism (up 1.98%); Education (up 1.31%); Household equipment and appliances (up 1.11%); Clothing, hats and footwear (up 0.92%); and Postal and telecommunications services (up 0.04%).
The gold price index in July 2024 increased by 2.03% compared to the previous month and by 41.35% compared to the same period last year. The average for the first seven months of 2024 increased by 28.96% compared to the same period last year. Domestic gold prices fluctuated in line with world gold prices.
The US dollar index rose 0.19% compared to the previous month and 5.06% year-on-year. The average for the first seven months of 2024 was a 2.53% increase year-on-year.
