The consumer price index in Nghe An province increased by 0.65% in December 2024.

The 13.29% increase in medicine and medical services was the main reason for the 0.65% increase in the consumer price index (CPI) in Nghe An province in December 2024 compared to the previous month.

On December 6, 2024, the People's Council of Nghe An province issued Resolution No. 122/NQ-HĐND regulating the prices of medical examination and treatment services for state-owned medical facilities under the management of Nghe An province. Accordingly, the prices of medicines and medical services increased by 13.29%.

According to information from the Nghe An Statistics Department, the consumer price index (CPI) in December 2024 increased by 0.65% compared to the previous month. The average CPI for the fourth quarter of 2024 increased by 2.34% compared to the average CPI for the fourth quarter of 2023, and increased by 2.95% compared to December of the previous year.

Of the 11 main groups of goods and services, 6/11 groups showed an increase in price index compared to the previous month: Medicines and medical services increased by 13.29%; Transportation increased by 0.52%; Beverages and tobacco increased by 0.17%; Other goods and services increased by 0.17%; Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.13%; Clothing, hats and footwear increased by 0.06%.

Four product groups saw decreases: Food and food services decreased by 0.31%; postal and telecommunications services decreased by 0.23%; housing, electricity, water and building materials and household equipment and appliances all decreased by 0.13%.

There is one product group, Education, that has neither increased nor decreased compared to the previous month.

On average in 2024, the consumer price index increased by 4.32% compared to the same period of the previous year. Ten out of twelve commodity groups saw increases, including: Housing, electricity, water, fuel and building materials (up 13.48%); Other goods and services (up 6.15%); Medicines and medical services (up 5.7%); Food and catering services (up 3.77%); Beverages and tobacco (up 2.27%); Culture, entertainment and tourism (up 1.76%); Transportation (up 1.27%); Household equipment and appliances (up 1.2%); Clothing, hats and footwear (up 0.86%); and Education (up 0.53%).

One product group saw a decrease compared to the same period last year: postal and telecommunications services, which fell by 0.13%.

The gold price index in December 2024 decreased by 1.06% compared to the previous month, but increased by 48.1% compared to December 2023; the average for the same period increased by 36.44%. Domestic gold prices fluctuated in the same direction as world gold prices.

The US dollar price index increased by 0.07% compared to the previous month, and by 3.22% compared to December 2022; the average increase for the same period was 2.61%.
