Former Deputy Chairman of a ward arrested for embezzling nearly 10 billion VND.
Tran Manh Thang and his accomplices, who used fraudulent schemes to embezzle nearly 10 billion VND, have been arrested by the police.
The Quang Ninh Provincial Police announced that they have served the decisions to prosecute, the arrest warrant for temporary detention, and the urgent search warrant for the residence and workplace of Tran Manh Thang (born in 1975, residing in Group 1, My Do Ward, Bac Giang City, Bac Giang Province) for the crime of...Fraudulent appropriation of property.
Previously, the Quang Ninh Provincial Police issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, indict the suspects, and issue arrest warrants for temporary detention against Nguyen Thi Tuyen (born in 1975, residing in Yen Dung district, Bac Giang province) and Do Duy Hien (born in 1977, residing in Luc Nam district, Bac Giang province) for the same crime.
The investigation determined that Tran Manh Thang, former Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of My Do Ward, Bac Giang City, in charge of land administration and land matters, was fully aware of the procedures for applying for project approval.
Thang, along with Tuyen and Hien, provided false information about their ability to secure investment in numerous real estate projects, leading the victims to believe they could transfer investment funds for a 36-hectare urban development project in Huong Gian commune, Yen Dung district, Bac Giang province. This urban development project had not yet been officially listed as an investment attraction project by the competent authorities.
Subsequently, Thang's group misappropriated the money, using it for personal purposes and failing to fulfill their commitments to the victim. Using this method, Thang's group defrauded and misappropriated 9.9 billion VND from one person in Quang Ninh.
The case is currently being investigated and handled by the Quang Ninh Provincial Police in accordance with the law.
