(Baonghean.vn) - With its massive volume of wood, the Bot Da Parish Church in Da Son commune, Do Luong district, is recognized as the church with the largest wooden frame in Nghe An province today.

Construction of the Bot Da Parish Church began on December 8, 2017. The interior is complete, and the exterior is currently being finished. It is projected that the church's exterior and entire grounds will be completed by 2024. Photo: Ngoc Phuong

These enormous wooden pillars have a circumference of over 2 meters, requiring two adults to encircle them completely. Each pillar is 12.7 meters tall and weighs 4.5 cubic meters.

Mr. Pham Dinh The, Chairman of the Pastoral Council of Bot Da Parish, said that 1,297 cubic meters of wood were used to complete the church, notably entirely from wood for columns, beams, rafters, purlins, etc. The types of wood used include: Lim, Hương (South African), and Sến. Of these, Hương wood accounts for 70%, used for the columns. The church is 72 meters long, 23 meters wide, and has a construction area of 1,656 square meters. Photo: Ngoc Phuong
