Fighter jet bursts into flames shortly after takeoff in Belarus.

A Russian-made MiG-29 fighter jet caught fire and burst into flames on the runway in Belarus while preparing for takeoff.

The incident occurred at Bobruisk airport, southeast of Minsk, Belarus, on February 23rd. The engine of a MiG-29 suddenly burst into flames while the aircraft was speeding down the runway. A video of the event recently surfaced online, RT reported on July 15th.

In the video, as the fighter jet prepares for takeoff, flames erupt from the engine. The landing gear is quickly destroyed, causing the aircraft to skid along the runway.

As the flames raged, the pilot unexpectedly ejected from the cockpit. The plane then transformed into a massive fireball, with thick black smoke billowing into the air.

The Belarusian Ministry of Defense praised the fighter pilot for his "wise" actions.
