Russia's special military operation demonstrates the ineffectiveness of Western air defenses.
(Baonghean.vn) - Experience in special military operations has shown the inefficiency of the West's approach to building air defense systems, according to leading Russian military analyst and air defense expert Alexey Leonkov.
According to him, the West has created an updated air defense system, known as integrated or distributed air defense. According to NATO, it allows for the deployment of both ground-based detection and destruction capabilities. Furthermore, the system is designed so that weaknesses in individual elements do not lead to collapse.
“The United States tested this concept on Ukrainian territory during a special military operation. However, this system, which was planned to combine multiple air defense systems with different characteristics and target ranges, proved ineffective against hypersonic systems, weapons with weak radar signatures, and especially against our approach to organizing combined attacks involving various means, including drones and decoys,” the expert said.
He added that the special military operation also proved that even the most modern NATO air defense systems that the West brought to Ukrainian territory for testing in combat operations are incapable of countering Russia's modern air attack weapons.
