According to RIA Novosti on December 29, Colonel Andrei Bogodel, Deputy Head of the Staff of the Armed Forces at the Belarusian Military Academy, stated that the deployment of Russia's latest Oreshnik missile system in Belarus is a message to the West about Minsk and Moscow's readiness to defend their world by all possible means.

On December 18, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced that the Oreshnik missile system had arrived in the country "yesterday" and was being deployed. Shortly afterward, the Belarusian leader asserted that no more than 10 such systems would be deployed in the country.

"Today, any action must be accompanied by a 'fist.' Because the world is constantly changing and cannot be shaped in any other way. Here, Oreshnik is not a weapon we want to attack, for example, Britain or Germany. But it is a message that Russia and Belarus are defending their world in this way. In a way that allows us to say that it is better not to interfere. Interference is absolutely not allowed," – Deputy Chief of Staff Bogodel commented on STV.

According to this Belarusian colonel, Western countries have violated numerous "red lines" regarding the supply and use of missile systems to Ukraine in Russia's special military operation. "All of this is an attempt to test the limits of Russia's nuclear program," Bogodel believes.

In late December 2025, Colonel Bogadej proposed that a division of Oreshnik missile systems could be established in the Belarusian and Russian Federations. According to him, a division of 3 launchers had already been deployed in Belarus. The Belarusian military colonel believes that a regiment of Oreshnik systems with approximately 10 launchers will be stationed in the republic.

According to Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin, the Oreshnik system deployed in Belarus can carry both nuclear and conventional warheads.

"The Oreshnik system has been deployed on our territory. It can be used with both nuclear and conventional missile warheads. Its range is probably not a big secret – up to 5,000 km," Minister Viktor Khrenin said in an interview answering a question about the tactical and technical characteristics of the Oreshnik system, which has been put into combat service in the country.
