Ho Hao was born and raised in a fertile land located along Highway 8 (Vinh - Napê), formerly known as Huu Bang village, Huu Bang commune, now Son Bang commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province. This was also an important area of Phan Dinh Phung's army in the Can Vuong movement against the French.
