IT engineer's trick to transform prostitute from 'ugly duckling to swan'

According to investigative documents, Nguyen Cong Sinh graduated from a technical university with a Bachelor of Information Technology (IT) degree. After graduation, Sinh worked for a real estate group that is among the top 3 in Vietnam.

On December 17th, detectives from the Anti-Social Vices and Human Trafficking Team of the Criminal Police Department (PC02, Hanoi City Police) unexpectedly raided the Anh Sao guesthouse on Mai Anh Tuan Street, Dong Da District, Hanoi.

Here, the police discovered two couples engaging in prostitution in two separate rooms, and two women sitting and waiting for customers.

At the police station, the suspects confessed to engaging in prostitution. According to the prostitutes' statements, they had previously asked Nguyen Cong Sinh to create a brand on dark web sites and social media to support their profession.

Shortly afterward, Sinh was summoned to the police station for questioning. After initial denials, Sinh was forced to confess to brokering prostitution.

According to Sinh's confession, since October, he had been using the Zalo account "Anh S" to find prostitutes and posting nude photos and phone numbers of these women on the website "kieunu...". From there, he advertised prostitution services to clients at hotels and motels in Hanoi.

Sinh also created a nickname: "laophatgia..." and wrote articles along with nude photos and the phone numbers of prostitutes.InternetThe purpose is to advertise and promote prostitution to clients seeking sex services.

Sinh had many tricks to "polish" the image of his prostitutes. Receiving a monthly salary of 8 million dong from the prostitutes for "PR," he thought of ways to attract as many clients as possible for them.

First, Sinh instructed the girls to take high-resolution nude photos and send them to him. Using Photoshop techniques, Sinh would transform the girls from "ugly ducklings" into "swans," with all sorts of provocative poses.

Below the photos, Sinh included his body measurements (bust, waist, hips) along with attractive accompanying services. He also paid the administrators of the dark web site to make the nickname "laophatgia…" a "reliable checker" to increase trust from clients seeking prostitution services.

Sinh skillfully uses advertising language when giving stage names to girls, while simultaneously using provocative headlines. For example, Nguyen TL is given the stage name "Vy Anh" accompanied by the advertisement: "Enjoy the feeling of royalty"; or DH has the stage name "Phuong Anh" with the advertisement: "A fairy descended to earth"...

This technology engineer also simultaneously created multiple accounts on websites catering to the pleasure-seeking crowd, such as Kieunu…club, to upload information and photos of girls at the same time.

Since the beginning of 2020, investigators had information about the suspect's whereabouts. However, being an IT graduate, Sinh always had many tricks to conceal his tracks.

It took a long time of verification, along with clever tactics, for the detectives to finally get Sinh to reveal his true identity.

After Sinh helped build her reputation, the prostitutes averaged about 4 clients per day, charging 800,000 VND per session (1-2 hours). For an overnight stay, the price was 3,500,000 VND per night.

Sinh confessed that from October until now, he has brokered deals for at least 3 prostitutes to go online to entertainment websites, receiving tens of millions of VND per month in fees.

However, according to a detective from the Criminal Investigation Department, in order to dismantle Sinh and his accomplices' trafficking ring, the police had to track him down for a long time.
