On the morning of January 9, the National Assembly Standing Committee opened its sixth session. According to the meeting agenda, before closing on the afternoon of January 11, the Standing Committee will give opinions on a draft resolution on disciplinary action against retired officials and civil servants.
The consideration of the Resolution on disciplinary action against retired officials and civil servants who have committed violations was included in the agenda of the December 2016 meeting, but at that time, the Government was not prepared in time to submit it, so it was postponed to this meeting.
This morning, Secretary General of the National Assembly Nguyen Hanh Phuc continued to inform that the Government has not yet submitted a draft resolution on the above content, so the reviewing agency cannot conduct the review.
"We are very worried because it is difficult to ensure progress," Mr. Phuc emphasized.

The issue of disciplining civil servants who commit violations after retirement was raised when the Secretariat requested the National Assembly. The Government considered administrative discipline for former Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang commensurate with the disciplinary level of dismissal from the Party. |
The consideration of the legal basis for disciplinary action against retired civil servants was raised at the 2nd session of the National Assembly, held in October and November 2016, when the National Assembly was requested by the Party Central Committee Secretariat to direct the implementation of administrative disciplinary action against Mr. Vu Huy Hoang - former Minister of Industry and Trade.
At the closing session of the second session, in the resolution on questioning and answering questions, the National Assembly severely criticized Mr. Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Industry and Trade for the 2011-2016 term, before the National Assembly and voters nationwide for his violations of personnel work during his tenure in the above-mentioned position, causing serious consequences, negatively affecting the reputation of the Party, the State, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, causing outrage in society, and attracting the attention of many National Assembly deputies for questioning.
The resolution at that time also had a clause stating that the National Assembly assigned the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Government, and law enforcement agencies to continue clarifying and handling the matter according to the provisions of law.
