Toll collection officially begins on the Dien Chau - Bai Vot section of the North-South Expressway on January 5, 2025.
According to information from the project contractor, Phuc Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company, starting at 0:00 on January 5, 2025, the Dien Chau (Nghe An) - Bai Vot (Ha Tinh) expressway component project will officially begin collecting BOT tolls.
Specifically, according to Phuc Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company, on December 27, 2024, the State Inspection Council held the final acceptance inspection of the construction project to review and approve the toll collection operation plan.

The State Acceptance Council has worked and unanimously approved the conditional acceptance results of the investor for the project, allowing the Dien Chau-Bai Vot project to officially collect tolls to recover investment costs from 0:00 on January 5, 2025.

This component project includes four toll stations, three of which are located in Nghe An province: the interchange with National Highway 7C (N5 road), in Nghi Phuong commune, Nghi Loc district; the interchange with National Highway 46B, in Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district; and one station located at the interchange with National Highway 8A, in Thanh Binh Thinh commune, Duc Tho district (Ha Tinh province).

A representative from Hoa Hiep Co., Ltd., a company participating in the project, added: Compared to other component projects, the Dien Chau - Bai Vot section of the North-South Expressway was completed later but was invested in under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, allowing it to be put into operation and toll collection earlier to help the project company recover its capital. Other expressway packages, entirely funded by the state budget, will begin toll collection later.
The toll collection period for the Dien Chau-Bai Vot expressway project, under the BOT contract signed with the Ministry of Transport, is 16 years and 6 months.

Compared to some other expressways, the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway is equipped with an electronic toll collection (ETC) system, without barriers or fences; and is managed and operated using an intelligent transportation ecosystem. Vehicles entering the expressway must use the electronic toll collection service; deliberate violations will result in service refusal and legal action by the authorities.
The North-South Expressway, Dien Chau-Bai Vot section, has a total investment of over 11,157 billion VND, of which the state budget invested nearly 6,000 billion VND and the remainder was invested by enterprises participating in the project. The Dien Chau-Bai Vot Expressway is over 50km long; construction began in May 2021 and the section from Km 430+000 – Km 458+796 at the National Highway 46B interchange was put into operation on April 30, 2024. The remaining section from the National Highway 46B interchange in Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district, to the end of the route at the National Highway 8A interchange, will be operational from July 1, 2024.
