Vinh agricultural wholesale market attracts 700 small traders
(Baonghean.vn) - Built under the BOT model and put into operation for only 1 year, Vinh City's agricultural wholesale market plays an important role in consuming agricultural products for farmers in the province and at the same time providing business locations for 700 small traders.
As the only agricultural wholesale market in Vinh City supplying other markets, the market opens every day from 3-4 am. From the night before, hundreds of trucks carrying vegetables, tubers, and fruits from districts in the province and other provinces have flocked to the market. From here, agricultural products will be supplied to retail markets in Vinh City and districts in Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh provinces, etc.
Previously, agricultural product trading activities in this area mainly took place on the roads. Therefore, it affected the order and beauty of the city. Since the agricultural market came into operation, wholesale traders have had a stable business location and convenient for loading, unloading, gathering and storing goods.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha has more than 20 years of experience in the vegetable and fruit business. Before, when the agricultural market had not been built, she sold goods at Vinh market. Currently, she rents a business location in the city's agricultural market pavilion for 400,000 VND/month. Ms. Ha happily said: The rental price of a business location at the wholesale market is the same as the old Vinh market pavilion, but it is cleaner and more convenient for buying and selling.
As for Mr. Ho Duc Toan, every day he still carries vegetables from Quynh Luong and Quynh Luu communes to the agricultural market at 1 a.m. to sell. Mr. Toan said: "Before there was no market, I had to sell on the street, fighting for a seat was very difficult; if I came late, I would lose my seat. Since the wholesale market was established, I have a stable business location in a covered communal house, so I don't have to worry about rain or wind like before."

After more than 1 year of operation, it has solved the business location for 700 small traders. Currently, all business locations in the agricultural market area have been filled, the demand for locations is increasing. Mr. Thai Ba Nghia - Director of Song Tien Trade and Construction Investment Company - Head of the Agricultural Wholesale Market Management Board said: At first, the parking area was designed right in the market, but the demand for business locations increased, so the company bought an additional 10,000 m2 of land in the West, right next to the wholesale market to build a parking lot and unload goods.
Not only gradually meeting the buying and selling needs of business households and agricultural markets, the market also solves the problem of encroachment on sidewalks and roads; causing urban disorder and ensuring good environmental sanitation on the roads in Hong Son ward, Vinh city.
The agricultural market is located in the western area of Vinh market's main hall, with a total construction investment of nearly 30 billion VND; with an area of 10,000 m2, 10 pavilions are designed according to the standards of level 4 houses, steel beams, and corrugated iron roofs. Of which, there are 300 grocery kiosks and 400 locations for trading agricultural products such as vegetables, tubers, and fruits of all kinds. Between the pavilions of the agricultural market, parking spaces are planned for loading and unloading goods. |
