Vinh wholesale agricultural market attracts 700 traders.
(Baonghean.vn) - Built under the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model and operational for only one year, the Vinh City agricultural wholesale market plays a crucial role in selling agricultural products for farmers in the province, while also providing business locations for 700 small traders.
As the only wholesale agricultural market in Vinh City supplying other markets, the market opens daily from 3-4 AM. From the night before, hundreds of trucks carrying vegetables, tubers, and fruits from districts within the province and other provinces arrive at the market in droves. From here, agricultural products are supplied to retail markets in Vinh City and districts in Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Quang Binh provinces.
Previously, the trading of agricultural products in this area mainly took place along the roads, thus affecting urban order and aesthetics. Since the agricultural market opened, wholesale traders have had a stable and convenient place to conduct business, facilitating the loading, unloading, and storage of goods.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha has over 20 years of experience in the fruit and vegetable business. Previously, before the agricultural market was built, she sold her goods at Vinh Market. Currently, she rents a business space in the city's agricultural market for 400,000 VND per month. Ms. Ha happily stated: "The rent for a business space in the wholesale market is similar to the old Vinh Market, but it's cleaner and more convenient for buying and selling."
As for Mr. Ho Duc Toan, he still transports vegetables from Quynh Luong commune, Quynh Luu district, to the agricultural market every day starting at 1 AM to sell them. Mr. Toan said: "Before the market was built, I had to sell on the street, competing for a spot was very difficult; if I arrived late, I would lose my spot. Since the wholesale market was established, I have a stable business location inside a covered pavilion, so I don't have to worry about rain or wind like before."

After more than a year of operation, the market has provided business locations for 700 small traders. Currently, all business locations in the agricultural market area are filled, and the demand for locations is increasing. Mr. Thai Ba Nghia – Director of Song Tien Investment and Construction Trading Company and Head of the Management Board of the Agricultural Wholesale Market – said: Initially, the parking area was designed right inside the market, but due to the increasing demand for business locations, the company purchased an additional 10,000 m2 of land to the west, right next to the wholesale market, to build a parking lot and goods loading and unloading area.
Not only has the agricultural market gradually met the buying and selling needs of households, but it has also resolved the issue of encroachment on sidewalks and roads, which causes urban disorder, and ensured good environmental hygiene on the streets in Hong Son ward, Vinh City.
The agricultural market, located in the western area of the main Vinh market building, was constructed with a total investment of nearly 30 billion VND. Covering an area of 10,000 m2, it comprises 10 stalls, built to the standards of a level 4 building with a steel frame and corrugated iron roof. Within these stalls are 300 kiosks selling groceries and 400 stalls selling various agricultural products such as vegetables and fruits. Parking areas for loading and unloading goods are planned between the stalls. |
