Husband executed for drug-related crimes, wife sets up new drug ring.

On November 23, 2022, the Yen Thanh District Police announced that they were temporarily detaining Tran Thi Chien (born in 1982), residing in Bao Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, for the illegal buying and selling of narcotics.

Earlier, in early October 2022, through intelligence gathering, the Yen Thanh District Police discovered a large-scale illegal drug trafficking ring. The drugs were sourced from abroad, transported to Yen Thanh District, and then divided into smaller quantities for distribution. In response to this situation, the Yen Thanh District Police promptly reported to the Provincial Police leadership to establish a special task force to combat and dismantle the ring.

After a period of coordinated implementation of investigative measures, the special task force identified Tran Thi Chien (born in 1982), residing in Bao Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, as the ringleader of the aforementioned network.

During the investigation, the task force encountered many difficulties because Tran Thi Chien employed numerous tactics to evade law enforcement. According to the police, Chien's husband had been arrested.sentenced to deathbecause of drug-related offenses.

After persistently monitoring the suspect's movements and gathering sufficient evidence, at approximately 11:30 AM on November 21, 2022, following a coordinated effort involving all available forces and resources, the Yen Thanh District Police arrested Tran Thi Chien for the illegal trafficking of narcotics. 40 synthetic drug pills were seized as evidence.

During an emergency search of the suspect's residence, the special task force seized 3,500 synthetic drug pills, 16 grams of heroin, and 5 grams of methamphetamine.
