The incident happened at night when a male Doberman spotted four venomous mountain cobras slithering into the yard of a house in Sebekapur village. The dog immediately rushed to attack and prevented the snakes from entering.
The dog fought with the venomous snakes for 4 hours. After the fierce battle, all 4 venomous snakes were bitten to death, but the brave dog could not survive due to venom poisoning from many bites.
"I am in shock. This is a great sacrifice for my family. I will remember the dog until I die. May God rest the dog in peace," said Dibakar Raita, the dog's owner.
After the story of the brave dog sacrificing itself to protect its owner spread, hundreds of people came to Raita's house to lay wreaths on the animal's body. The dog's funeral was held solemnly before being buried.
Sebakpur village is located at the foot of a hill surrounded by bushes so wild animals are often seen in the village, especially poisonous snakes that slither from the bushes into houses and cattle sheds.
Doberman is a breed of dog with a muscular body, often raised to guard houses, guard or do tasks. This breed of dog is very intelligent and obedient to its owner. They rarely attack people or other animals unless they smell imminent danger to the owner.
