The owner of the 'Hai Phong Lamppost Pate' brand speaks out about the controversy surrounding 120 tons of pork.
Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company explained that all nine individuals arrested and prosecuted were outsiders, and none of them were employees, managers, or staff of the company.
Nine of the defendants charged are not employees of the company.
Recently, the Hai Phong City Police discovered a network that purchased pork infected with African swine fever and then processed it into canned food.
These individuals collected over 120 tons of pork infected with African swine fever and stored it in the warehouse of Halong Canfoco Joint Stock Company, of which about 2 tons had already been processed into canned meat. Notably, the meat was found to be spoiled, leaking liquid, and emitting a foul odor.
Upon discovery, authorities documented the incident, sealed the contaminated meat, and organized its destruction.
Regarding the incident, the Investigation Police Department of Hai Phong City has prosecuted nine defendants for violating food safety regulations. The case is being further investigated to clarify the roles and responsibilities of individuals and organizations involved in order to strictly handle them according to the law.

In explaining the events related to this matter on January 8th, Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company stated: According to information from the authorities, the investigating agency has arrested and prosecuted 9 individuals for violating food safety regulations, related to the purchase of pork infected with African swine fever, and forging and legalizing quarantine documents to put this batch of raw materials into circulation.
Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company explained that all nine individuals arrested and prosecuted were outsiders, and none of them were employees, managers, or staff of the company.
"The company is a party involved in the case as the recipient of raw materials based on complete and valid documents and records provided by the seller, issued by competent state agencies in accordance with regulations. This information has been noted by the authorities during the investigation and verification process," the company stated.
Immediately after discovering the incident (September 2025), Canfoco proactively reported and fully, promptly, and transparently cooperated with relevant authorities throughout the investigation process; strictly implemented the decision to isolate and destroy the entire batch of violating raw materials as required by the competent State agency; and reviewed the entire process of controlling input materials and selecting suppliers to strengthen risk prevention measures in the supply chain.
The company identified this as a serious incident in its supply chain, with a certain impact on its reputation and short-term production and business operations.
However, the company still maintains that the entire batch of infringing raw materials was not used in production or supplied to the market; all of the company's products currently circulating in the market fully comply with food safety and hygiene regulations and are strictly controlled according to internal procedures.
This company's factory currently maintains all food safety management certifications such as ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000, and is subject to regular inspections and monitoring by relevant authorities.
"To date, the company's production and business operations have remained stable, continuous, and in compliance with legal regulations, without any significant disruptions," the company stated.

The expected selling price is VND 15,000 per share, significantly lower than the current market price (VND 27,900 per share as of the morning of January 8, 2026). The newly issued shares will not be subject to transfer restrictions, and the issuance will take place in 2026; the Board of Directors is authorized to choose a suitable time.
The total capital raised could reach 75 billion VND. Accordingly, the company plans to use 50 billion VND for the construction project of the canned food production plant; the remaining 25 billion VND will be used to supplement working capital to pay suppliers and partners.
Previously, to ensure continuous operation, the company's shareholders approved the lease of a 2-hectare plot of land in the Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park in Dong Hai ward (Hai Phong city) to build a food processing plant.
On this land, the company will implement the Ha Long Hai Phong Canned Food Factory Project with a total investment of over 166 billion VND. The capital structure includes approximately 83.7 billion VND of equity capital and over 82.2 billion VND of credit loans.
The new factory is designed with two main production zones, aiming for a total revenue of 600 billion VND per year once it is fully operational. Specifically, the meat and sausage canning workshop has a capacity of 10 million products per year, with an expected revenue of 300 billion VND; the vegetable and fruit canning workshop also has a capacity of 10 million products per year, with an expected revenue of 300 billion VND.
The project is expected to commence construction in Q2/2026 and officially become operational from Q2/2027.
