The President is approachable.
In late April 2017, the President and his delegation visited Nghia Dong commune, Tan Ky district. The image of the former head of state, with his simple demeanor and warm smile, traveling long distances to personally visit and inquire about the living conditions of the people in this mountainous commune, moved many deeply. At the places the President visited, the local people gathered in large numbers, shaking hands and exchanging greetings. In return for the affection of the people of Nghia Dong commune, President Tran Dai Quang also spent considerable time talking with officials and residents.
Not only did the President leave a deep impression with his caring and attentive communication style, acknowledging the people's living conditions and offering many practical and meaningful pieces of advice, but he also brought unexpected joy to the people of this mountainous commune by directing relevant agencies to build a canteen for 500 children at the commune's kindergarten.
Returning to Nghia Dong these days, it's easy to see the heavy hearts of the people following the news of President Tran Dai Quang's passing. Everywhere, images, stories, and last words of advice from the President are being recounted among the people…
At the commune's kindergarten, the canteen, completed and put into use in April of this year, now stands as a symbol, a reminder of the affection of a benevolent President for the people of this mountainous commune.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Vi, Principal of Nghia Dong Commune Kindergarten, said: "The canteen is spacious and airy, designed according to a one-way kitchen process, which is very convenient for ensuring food safety and hygiene for children. The canteen is also far from the classrooms, so the food preparation process does not affect the children during their studies." Expressing her sorrow at the passing of President Tran Dai Quang, the principal emotionally shared: "During the two days of national mourning, the school set up an altar for staff and teachers to light incense and pay tribute to his contributions to the country, especially the affection the President showed to the teachers and students of this remote school in western Nghe An."
Kind, approachable, and always deeply concerned about the lives of the people, especially the vulnerable in society, this is the image that remains in the minds of every citizen who had the opportunity to interact with President Tran Dai Quang.

In Nghia Dong commune in April 2017, besides expressing his delight at the new developments of Tan Ky district in general and being particularly impressed that Nghia Dong commune, despite its difficult starting point, had achieved the new rural development goals, the President urged the Party Committee, government, and people of Nghia Dong commune in particular, and Tan Ky district in general, to continue to unite, agree, and strive even harder to improve the lives of the people, build a more prosperous and beautiful homeland, and together with the Party Committee, government, and people of Nghe An province, build a relatively developed province in the region and the whole country.
Earlier, in January 2017, during his visit to extend New Year greetings to officials, soldiers, and people of Nghe An province, President Tran Dai Quang also took the time to visit and present gifts to the people, poor households, and victims of Agent Orange; and to visit and present gifts to policy beneficiary families and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers in Nam Dan district and Vinh city.
During his visits to these places, the President expressed deep concern and worry about the fact that the country as a whole, and Nghe An province in particular, still has many poor people, impoverished households, and many difficult and unfortunate circumstances due to the lingering effects of war. “These are issues that must be addressed more effectively because our goal is to build a prosperous, strong, democratic, just, and civilized nation; so that everyone has a comfortable and happy life, and every family has a stable life,” the President affirmed.
The traditions of Nghe An are invaluable.
During each visit and working trip to Nghe An, whether speaking with officials and people in communes or working with provincial leaders, President Tran Dai Quang always emphasized the invaluable traditions of the province and placed great faith and hope in the development of the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh. These traditions are rooted in the land's rich history and talented people, its revolutionary spirit, and its self-reliance and self-improvement. According to President Tran Dai Quang: This is a tremendous strength, an important resource, and a driving force that will propel the province to achieve many things and promises to yield even better results.

During a meeting with provincial leaders on the morning of April 29, 2017, President Tran Dai Quang assessed that, based on the traditions of the homeland and the directions and tasks set by the province for the coming period, Nghe An has identified its strengths, unique characteristics, and difficulties; thereby choosing appropriate directions and steps and setting the most feasible goals. First and foremost are the five key economic development priorities in the action programs to successfully implement the Resolution of the 18th Provincial Party Congress, Resolution 26 of the Politburo on the direction and tasks for the development of Nghe An province until 2020, and the resolutions of the Central Committee, along with the whole country implementing the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress.
The President requested the province to focus on developing agriculture in an ecological direction, applying biotechnology and high technology, encouraging businesses to invest in agriculture and rural areas, and building concentrated production areas linked to processing industries and exports.

Furthermore, the province needs to encourage land consolidation, creating breakthroughs in the restructuring of the agricultural economy; learn from experience and continue to develop new-style cooperatives and effective cooperative economic models; and continue to effectively implement the National Target Program for building new rural areas. In addition, Nghe An needs to focus on developing tourism, with a focus on cultural-historical, ecological, coastal, island, and spiritual tourism, striving to make tourism a key economic sector of the locality.
In particular, to effectively achieve the above objectives, the political system at the grassroots level must be close to the people, deeply understand the situation, and proactively handle situations arising from the grassroots. The President emphasized: "Promoting revolutionary traditions, patriotism, unity, and consensus, first and foremost unity and consensus within the Party and the political system, to spread and create unity in the community, and to leverage the combined strength of the entire Party committee, government, armed forces, and people of all ethnic groups in building and developing the province."
